Will a Bergara Barrel fit on a Remington "clone" style action?

I have a 6.5 creed Bergara Mountain barrel that I only have about 100 rounds thru it and would like to get it re-chambered into 6.5 saum and put it on Remington clone action. Is that possible? I thought my gunsmith mentioned that he'd just have to machine the chamber end of the barrel flat and remove the cone shape.

Thanks in advance.

My understanding is no because Bergara has a proprietary thread tenon. It will not just screw on. Maybe a smith could thread the action, but I doubt it because the Bergara thread is very coarse and there isnt much available material on the factory action.

PS - there is a pretty recent thread discussing the Bergara barrel and tenon. Ive read it but do not recall the title

Thanks guys. So even if the cone face was machined flat or matched to whatever receiver it was going on and the shoulder machined to match, it still wouldn't work?

I was just thinking it would maybe be doable since it would be getting rechambered too. But I suppose the extra machine work could outweigh the fact of using that barrel over?

It’ll work as long as there’s enough shank to work with. The big issue is the Bergara has the aforementioned coned breech, whereas the R700 design uses a counterbore.

The tenon threads are the same, 1.062” x 16 TPI, it’s just headspace and coned vs counterbored breech. You usually can’t take a barrel with one tenon thread pattern to another pattern because you typically have to chop the tenon and start over, and there usually isn’t enough shank left after you do that. Primary exceptions would be going from a very large thread diameter to something smaller, so you could machine down the threads and just cut new ones underneath, a barrel-nut setup with a very minimal taper, any barrel with an abnormally long shank, or a straight taper that is basically all shank.

But you’re probably better off just trying to sell the barrel and buying a Remage for your R700.
