building another Remington 700p in 308 will a 20moa 1pc base be fine or will I need more to get to 100yrds? if so what base would you use thanks most shots will be around 5-700yrds BUT id like to ring the gong at 1000 just to show I could thanks guys

You should be fine. Assuming everything goes on straight, the 20 moa slope will have you near the mechanical center of the scope at the primary distances you mentioned. 1k should be no problem.

There are a lot of variables but you'll likely need somewhere around 10 to 12 mils to get to 1000 yards. Can you go 10-12 mils up on your scope? A 20moa base will add about 5.5 mils so your scope would need to be able to go up 7 mils on the safe side to be able to dial up to 1000 yards.

I run right at 10 mils to get to 1000m (1100yd) with a 20 moa base, S&B PMII and 168 SMKs @2630.
This leaves me with plenty of elevation left if I need it for further.

A 30MOA base will make some scopes unable to zero @100. Just beware of that if you decide to go bigger.

I had a Vortex PST with a 20moa rail and had 13.6 mils of elevation travel. A 1" tube might not have enough travel especially if you're using flat base bullets but I would rather hold over for the occasional shot at 1000 than put a 30moa base.

Yes, I think a 20MOA base or rings is all you'll need. I favored a badger picatinny 20 MOA base since they were well made and fit the actions well.

I have a 20 MOA base on my .308. Vortex Viper PST 6-24 scope.

No problem with dialing to 1000 yards. 1200 yards runs out of travel

With the current load (2600 fps) I need 15.5 mils come up from a 100 yard zero to hit 1200 yards. I get 15 from the scope, so a simple 0.5 hold over got me on the steel.
