Will someone please explain the way this camouflage works to me?

Belgian Jigsaw pattern. Note the FN/FNC. Probably a stock photo, and no way related to what's going on in Ukraine.
Also, the colors of the pattern aren't as bright as the picture depicts.

I was told once by Belgian paratroopers that the camo pattern was designed with operations in Africa in mind. No idea if that’s true or not.

Pre-digital thoughts on "disruptive." Think back to the "dazzle" camos of WW1 for warships that don't bother to hide them just make it hard to tell what they are doing.
This is similar, ish. It also hides better than you'd think because spotty things that break up your pattern are generally more effective than stuff that's a perfect reproduction or even picture of what you are standing next to (most hunterflage is... meh, unless used very very carefully) because you are not a field or tree but a person and the most important thing is Not Looking Like A Person (or airplane).
Also: brights work better than you'd think because aside from the world being brighter than you'd think: shadows. Hide in a dark wood and you don't glow or anything.
These older ones also often assumed fading of fabric so started a little too contrasty, on purpose, as you wear that in formation, mostly go in the field with the slightly older faded uniform.

If your a good pilot then you can fly through the forest below tree top level,they'll never see you from above.
