will this RPR scope/base combination work?

I have finally decided on a setup for my RPR in .338 LM. I have an Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 FFP on the way. So here is my question:

Will the Warne MSR GEN 2 Extended Skeletonized mount work well with my RPR?

The RPR comes with a 30 MOA rail so the Warne I was looking at is 0 MOA cant. I've heard from several people that they ended up using AR style mounts on the RPR's because of the large handguard and clearance issues. I have searched everywhere and even made a call to Warne but so far I have struck out on if this combination will work or work well.

I'm concerned about scope clearance and cheek-pad height (Or lack thereof.)

Keep in mind the 6.5 RPR's are different than the .338's in size and rails.

The Athlon has an outside objective dimension on approximately 2.3”. That mount is 1.43” tall. So yes, as far as height goes, it should be fine. Even with the larger HG for the 338, the top of the HG is still lower than the top of your scope mount rail, giving you even more room.
The adjustable cheek piece on the RPR will be fine for that height of mount. People run 1.5” all the time on them.

But as TacticalDillHole said, that would not be my first choice for a scope mount in a 338 LM. There are better mounts out there with zero moa that will ensure your scope doesn’t slide around or have the mount fail under recoil.

can you guys recommend one in the 100-175 dollar range?

I see a ton of options in plain rings but was really looking for a one piece mount. Most of them either have built in MOA or aren't tall enough.

Not a Unimount, but these rings would be solid...

One piece mounts are more expensive, and the 338 lapua will eat your scope for lunch without a quality mounting system. I always recommend Spuhr or Badger, but i cant deny theyare expensive. But, ive also never had any failures or loss of zero.

At around 200, this could be an option
