The bolt needs to be timed as its welded on. The bolt won't change accuracy it only increases the cam effect. The striker timing will in theory effect repeatabillity therefore accuracy.

Just to make sure I understand, you mean - The bolt <span style="color: #3366FF">handle</span> needs to be timed as its welded on. The bolt <span style="color: #3366FF">handle</span> won't change accuracy it only increases the cam effect. Right?

Short answer is no it won’t affect accuracy.
You don't re-time the bolt after the handle is welded on it's timed before and during the welding process. To do this right the guy doing the welding needs the bolt, the new handle, and the receiver.

Thanks. The rifle is pretty accurate now (100 = 1/2 with the right ammo), and the last thing I want is to make a semi cosmetic change and have it screw up the groups.

Are you having an entire handle installed, or just a bolt knob?
I wouldn't think you'd need to send your entire rifle in if it were just a knob, but can understand the welder/smith needing it if it were an entire handle.
Am I correct in this assumption Randy?

If one is taking off the factory bolt handle and welding on an aftermarket bolt handle it is best to send the receiver so the handle can be properly timed. Bold knobs you just need to send the bolt.
