Gunsmithing Williams BM vs. PTG Bottom Metal

Re: Williams BM vs. PTG Bottom Metal

I have one of each, and I would say the Williams is better finished. The gap on the lever in the trigger bow is tighter, and it is evident more work was done in final assembly blending the various radii and such.

However, the PTG is by no means ugly or less robust. TBH, if you're gonna blast and coat the guard, the greater clearance in the PTG would probably be preferable.

I'd say both are equally strong, and I'm satisfied with them both.

I have one of each as well and I would agree with this assesment. The Williams has an Oberndorf style release and the PT&G has the push button style like a Winchester M-70. The one area that is dramatically different is the price. For a Winchester/FN, the PT&G is about $150 cheaper than the Williams.

The one in the white is PTG the Black one is Williams,

I was disapointed when I got the PTG for a project in the quality as what was pictured on the site and what I got were 2 different things. Either way as a steel replacement its a good item just not as nice as the williams in my opinion.

I think they cost me the same price so my money goes to Williams.

And for one more in the fire here is the Badger M4 metal
