Gunsmithing Williams Bottom Metal

This may invite scorn, but I have wrestled(literally) with this for some time and am making no progress.

I have this bottom metal and cannot get the floorplate to drop. Anyone have this problem or any ideas? I have pressed the release inside the trigger with my finger and some non-marring tools as hard as I can and no cigar.

Take it apart from the action and try it, the bottom metal could be in a bind.
