I am considering buying a Winchester model 70 back off my father-in-law and would like to upgrade the stock. I currently have a spare McMillan cut for a Remington. I'm curious just how difficult it would be to modify the stock to fit the Winchester reciever?

I've also read in several different places that the FN and Winchester bolt rifles stocks are compatible. Is this correct?

If so I have considered looking for a FN SPR take off stock.

Thank you
Any input is greatly appreciated

Re: Win 70 stock?

Dantron,

I can't help making a 700 stock work.

I have switched a M70 short action stock onto a short FN, but you have to match bottom metal ( 1 or 2 piece etc) to match the stock cutout. Many of the FN take offs will be inletted for FN 4 round detachable magazine.
