I have a older model 70 Varmint in 308 and the extractor broke in half. I ordered 3 new pushfeeds and none of them extract the shell. So I called and Winchester said "that's all we have left". Someone has cut and polished them before I received them in the mail. My question is there any modifications I can make that would allow more grab.Or is there a aftermarket replacement out there that I can install.

Re: Win mod 70 Pushfeed Extractors.

you said push feed, if you meant controlled feed then

you can remove metal from under the extractor that rides against the bolt, put some red lipstick on the bolt, move the extractor left and right and see where it is rubbing, then with a dremel remove metal and test
also midway has them

Re: Win mod 70 Pushfeed Extractors.

He is talking about a pushfeed extractor, not the mauser style claw extractor found in CRF Winchesters, which is what you have illustrated in your post.

Re: Win mod 70 Pushfeed Extractors.

I know but he mentioned <span style="font-weight: bold">Older</span> So I posted it incase he made a mistake, anyway its there if anyone needs it

thats also why I stated: <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">you said push feed, if you meant controlled feed then </div></div>

Cool, missed your first line somehow. Pushfeed M70s can be considered quite old now, as they first appeared nearly 50 years ago.

Re: Win mod 70 Pushfeed Extractors.

Thank You! for the info on the claw type extractor. But , I have the small plate type that is held by a plunger and spring. I could not get a good pic last night I will try to post one later today. And I called Winchester back I guess they found another type that was sitting right next to the one I received , and they are sending those out today.
