Gunsmithing Win Model 70 Long Action DBM

What are you guys running? How much work-fitting on the action is needed?
I had conferred with Kyle at XLR, he told me he doesn't offer LA Winchester chassis because of the fitting required on the action.

I bought a DBM system from PT&G with universal mag, gonna really have to manipulate lips just to hold a 06 size case.

In the process of bedding a new M70 into a Manners MCS-T stock with the PTG DBM. As it turns out the DBM is not going to sit flush in the stock, but It feeds 7mm RM like a champ.

Thanks cjg, I went with HS M24 stock, it needs to be inletted, so I can't really even try to match it up.
Anyone else?

I had to remove some material in the front of the mag well, but the bottom inlet matches a Winchester single piece bottom metal.

Does the Win 70 long action PTG DBM also use AICS 300WM magazines, or something else?

My M70 in 7mm rem mag has CDI bottom metal, and it works really well now but it took some time to get it to run.

I am pulling together Win 70 parts now for a 6.5x55 (obviously isn't as long & fat as magnum) and I am not sure what would be best DBM & magazines to use.

Mine says AI on it. Web site says universal mag, I'm going to run an 06 case in it, right now as it sits, a case will just pop out, mag lips need to be manipulated, so it must be a 300 mag size?

They are modified AI 338 mags. The feed lips on a 300WM would be too long for the Winchester Action. The mod is at the front of the mag, a notch is cut out.

That is interesting. Will a 'standard case' (say 30-06 or 6.5x55 size) work in that mag with some mag- lip tweaks?
