I am having trouble understanding wind drift. Does a bullet like a 30 caliber with a lower BC drift more or less than a 6mm bullet of a higher BC? Does weight of the bullet matter much or does the ballistic coefficient determine drift?

Re: Wind Drift Question

1000 yard wind drift

243 Win / 105 vld / BC 0.532 / 78 inches / 3036 fps

308 Win / 168 smk / BC 0.470 / 111 inches / 2750 fps

308 Win / 200 speer/BC 0.392 / 163 inches / 2450 fps

300 Weatherby Mag
/ 200 speer/BC 0.392 / 122 inches / 3095 fps

If you compare the last two cartridges with the same bullet...looks like velocity may have an effect also.

Re: Wind Drift Question

Thanks for all the replies. I am not new to shooting and have been doing it most of my life but here lately I have moved away from my 100 yard safe zone into unfamiliar territory. I take my shooting seriously and want to be the best that I can be at it and joining this forum was a big step in the right direction. Lindy I didn't even know a book like that existed but I will buy it. Thanks for the recommendation.
