I just ordered some of this and it will be here on Wednesday. I know that rimfires like a dirty barrel. Should I expect to actually lose some accuracy from this cleaner? Has anyone else here used it, and if so, how'd you like it?

Re: Wipe Out

I have used it on centerfire but not on rimfire rifles. It worked pretty good on the centerfire but just be sure to let it set long enough to work. I agree with with USMCj on the accuracy after cleaning. It takes between 25 to 50 rounds in my CZ for accuracy to come back. Good Luck

Re: Wipe Out

LOVE break free, as soon as i get something new, i take it out of the box and absolutely soak it in breakfree before i start messing around with it.

it's a great all around CLR, however as a bore cleaner, not as good as something specifically designed for bore cleaning.

i seem to always go back to hoppes no. 9 bore cleaner, and have been using shotter's choice lead remover lately with good results.

i will have to look into this wipe out stuff

Re: Wipe Out

I have used Wipe Out exclusively for a few years now. It is great, effective on all barrel residue and will not, in 50 years of exposure, harm the bore. I am a friend of the maker, but this happened after I had used it for a couple years. He happens to live near by and is a wealth of knowldge.
Tony Boyer is using it now.
I know that the DOD or AMU and or USMC is evaluating it for use as well. Cannot say enough good about it, and I check with a bore scope. Great Stuff!
For normal cleaning, I set rifle level to slightly toward the muzzle, spray the solution in and load 50-100 rounds of ammo. and then wipe out with a couple patches. Cleans suppressors etc as well.

Re: Wipe Out

I think that Wipe-out is a very good product. I do use a carbon cleaner before the Wipe-out because I don't think it does as well on carbon as it does copper. I believe the directions even say to remove carbon first. I would be suprised if any rimfire would benifit from using Wipe-out as there should be no copper fouling?

I have used Wipe Out on cf rifles and liked it. I have been thinking about my shooting partner's sealed 22 can. It is aluminum and was wondering if you could just fill it with Wipe Out and then rinse it out later with gun scrubber or brake cleaner ? Have you tried it yourself ? Thanks for any info you have.

Re: Wipe Out

I would call Terry Paul, he has a Wellsville KS # I think. I think it is on the cans as well. I have had no trouble with steal cans, but have not tried AL.

Dont you think you should call Wipe Out directly and speak to someone in customer support about reactivity with aluminum?

Re: Wipe Out

Don't do it. Rimfire and lead are completely different from centerfire jacketed. Go to "Rimfire Central" and research this before you ruin your rifle. When you "clean" your rimfire, it may take 100 rounds before you are "broken in" again. They are an entirely different animal from the jacketed bullet loads we shoot here. JMHO

Good Stuff. Nothing like the right info.

Tell me that would'nt suck plinking that rig one day and wondering why you got so many flyers and the front drops off the can only to see the inside all chewed up! Truly a bad day at the range...

Re: Wipe Out

im no expert by any means, but cleaning a 22s barrel often is not good. take care of the rest of the gun, but dont run too many patches down the bore.
we all want to take care of our guns the best we can,but
STAY OUT OF THAT BARREL!!!!!

Re: Wipe Out

Quite a few posts are talking about 22 long rifle.
Smallbore sniper shoots a 17HMR.
For the 17 HMR wipe out will be a great product.
I use it on centerfires before shooting cast bullets. I fill the bore let it soak about an hour or so and run a patch through. Then fill the bore with wipeout and let it sit overnight. If the morning patch has copper residue (green residue) Fill the bore again and run a patch in the evening. For removing carbon JB bore cleaned used alternatly with wipeout will remove layers of carbon and copper.
