Wireless Observation Station

So, I was thinking of making my own wireless observation system for target shooting (seeing groups and holes at several hundreds of yards) and hunting (checking my dad's extra stand). I know that it is pretty difficult to see the holes at even 500 yards with a good spotting scope, and was thinking about setting something up to aid in this.

I was thinking about fixing up a tripod with a very good spotting scope and a few electronic devices. I was thinking that I could mount a webcam on the spotting scope to view the field, and transmitting the video feed to a small Acer laptop. I could set this up a few hundred yards from my position to get a greater distance of view. I was also thinking about setting up two gears and motors to be controlled from a remote to pan and tilt when it is in the other hunting blind. The laptop would be fitted with a wireless LAN card so I could hook up net to the webcam somehow.

Has anyone else tried something like this?
Any suggestions?
