    I actually shoot guns.

Early morning and a field of opportunity. Looks like the mil has gone all in on LBGQTXYZ because targets used to be just one color - Green.

Billy Baroo, my M40/A1/A3/A5ish, made the trip today....

    7041568

Targets are out to 900 meters and there are steel plates mixed in amongst them

Zip is 5 shots on a 550 yard plate. I tried to load this to Youtube so I could inbed the video direct but my small IQ prevents it. If anyone can post live it would be appreciated.

Anyone interested in joining the Fort Devens Rifle and Pistol Club, 2019 newsletter is attached. Access to this range and similar for $20 a year ($40 first year) can not be beat. The club shoots twice a month - one day for rifle, one day for pistol.

I will warn you there are cops that shoot with the club.

Once you give them your rifle serial number and show proof of firearms license they are fine.

They like to let you know "I'll be watching you!"

    What's a firearms license?

Something they have instituted in the cradle of Liberty, Massachusetts.

When the historic town of Concord is not enacting leash laws for cats or banning the sale of water in containers smaller than 1 gallon the residents get all hot and excited about shit like licenses to exercise rights fought for right there in their damn town.

Ditto Arlington, formerly Menotomy scene of the heaviest fighting on 4/19/1775, where use of leaf blowers is banned.

That's crazy I thought for sure you were in the UK at first. I'm sorry that sucks just to be able to ring steel.

FID card required to possess/purchase a rifle/shotgun/ammo which allows you to possess for all lawful purposes in your house or to take to the range/hunting trips. Use to be issued "Indefinitely" until Mitt Romney decided he could scalp us for money every two years if he made them expire requiring renewal.

LTC required to possess/purchase a pistol/ammo which allows you to possess for all lawful purposes in your house "or for concealed carry" out of your house as well to use at the range or hunting. Expires every 5 years and use to be about $25 to renew until Mitt Romney decided that was too cheap for the serfs to be paying to exercise a God given right and made the fee $125 or so, I forget the number.

Oh and by the way when you buy said rifle/pistol make sure you go online and add the serial number and info into the data base and if its missing should your guns be taken for any reason you will be jailed until its found or its missing status is otherwise explained.

I travel the Battle Road from Lexington to Concord and back almost daily.

The spirits are questioning if we deserve what they provided us through sacrifice of their blood.

The UK dead are laughing in their graves that line that road.

Voting isnt even in the Bill of Rights......

Understood but find it ironic the hoops you have to go through to "prove your worthiness" to exercise your 2a rights but the supreme court has decided that legislation actually requiring proof of citizenship to vote in our elections is
    essentially forbidden.

When I was working for S&W I spent a little time over in Springfield. I decided most of the people there were what one would call centrist liberals. But by today's definition of Democrat they were surely conservatives.
Also, seemed pretty easy to get to the "wrong side of the tracks" there. Now, I understand, Obama piled about 25,000 or so Somalis in there to go with the Guatemalans. Bet they don't need no stinkin' card to shoot a gun.

    Thats the thing.

All these old massholes when they see a D after a name they think they are voting for JFK.

Little do they realize to the likes of AOC, JFK is an SS sturmbanfuhrer.

Being that we don't need FID cards in RI, is it possible for me to join and shoot there? I guess I could call the people on the newsletter but figured if you knew...

    Certainly.

The news letter provides all the info needed and dates in which ranges are scheduled.

Note there are I think three rifle ranges accessed this year

Hotel - the 900 meter pop up target range
Golf - the 600 yard KD range with pulled targets. You shoot this in two squad relay. One pulls, one shoots, than you swap

The other is the 400 meter AR pop up target course.

Note the main body of guys likes to get their shooting done prior to about 1100 than they head off to brunch. Everyone gets to get their shooting in but Ive not seen a range date go past 1200.

I fired 35 rounds today while squadded with a partner. He spotted for me I spotted for him and we worked our way all over the range.

He was using a Gunwerks rangefinder with ballistics program.

Send a PM with your email. Im sending an introduction email for another member and Ill CC you in so that you can be included on future emails.

Shooting as a guest is also an option $5 and you have to sign a waiver.

Being an active mil range a certain decorum is expected. No Soldier of Fortune stalking.

@pmclaine looks like a really nice place to shoot, even with licenses and fees. I have recently "lucked" into a spot by getting a friend hooked on long range shooting, and we can shoot out to 1430 or so on steel, and much further on rocks on his family's property.

Just got a ELR rifle and fireformed some brass last weekend, hope to get a load developed or do some load development this weekend .

Washington State, sadly, is continuing south in a hurry, with last years legislation, and they're trying to pile on more this session. Damnocrats! And then our idiot governor is out galavanting around with a presidential campain, not a snowballs chance in hell of success.

Beautiful range and superb shooting there man,

It's a damn shame that such things have to be ruined by idiot bureaucracy. Massachusetts is a fantastic place, filled with history, the birthplace of everything this country is today, and also home to some of the most famous names in American literature. It seems that Mass., California and NJ are the hotbeds of the most absurd antigun legislations in the entire country. New York, with the exception of the metro 5 boroughs, pales in comparison.

That said I am waiting for this damn flu to clear up before I head upstate and try some Elmer Keith / Ed McGivern style extreme long range shooting with my big bore sixguns.

Need to build a wall between New England and the Midwest. hopefully voters instead on concrete.

As for the attitude of "I'll be watching you!", that's a defensive strategy that needs to work 100% of the time. The opponent only needs to get lucky once.

The "Ill be watching you" and cop comments were cynical humor.

Im actually pretty fond of one of the members who is a cop and he promotes the sport whenever he can. I find him to be really attractive in a gay sort of way. Id fuck him if i could but sadly its a physical impossibility.

I hate the MA gun laws but truth be told they are not as miserable as some other states, though certainly worse than Maine, New Hampshire and Vt that abide by the 2A, RI I think is actually pretty good (not sure) while NY and CT are arguably worse.

I get the impression some of you think i pay for each range outing, not so, if that was the impression.

You pay for two levels of licensing. Get the LTC your covered for everything.

Licensing depends on the whim of the local Police Chief. Some wont give them out. Some would only give "sporting purposes only" licenses when we had that class. Firearms rights advocates have done a good job fighting to bring some equity to the licensing process.

What pisses me off is activist AGs banning certain guns and we have a CA style list of "approved" firearms. Additionally "no retail sales of ammo to MA unless you are a licensed ammo seller" prevents most of the cheapest warehouses from shipping to us. Sucks waiting for my sister to bring my ammo down from Maine.

But what do I know? Im just a frog in some water Im starting to find too hot for comfort.

Sad this is in a state that dragged 9 other colonies, eventually 13, into a war over the right to bear arms.

I bet they don’t have drivers licenses either. Sick of this crap.
