Word of Caution: New Year's Eve Gunfire and Other Idiots

Just a quick reminder to folks that a lot of dumb asses think it is okay to rip off mag dumps into the air tonight when the clock rings midnight. Here on the Hide we're a bit smarter and safer than the typical firearms owners, but quite frankly there's a ton out there who completely ignore the laws of gravity and ignore every firearm safety rule there are. When I lived in Southwest Florida it was especially common, same with eastern Virginia, luckily for me now in small town Wyoming I don't have the problem, but many here do. Staying inside is your best bet, but those who will be out in open air please keep it in mind and be prepared in any way you can. May seem silly, but tossing a TQ in the back pocket on the way out the door could be a lifesaver. Drunks pretty much goes without saying tonight, just a reminder to watch for them too.

I wish that everyone has a safe and joyful New Year celebration, ready to kick off what will likely turn out to be a wild 2020 tomorrow as true defenders of the Second Amendment and the rest of our freedoms.

I'll be at the house murdering a puzzle with the wife while we open a bottle of Maker's 47 and will probably break out the margaritas afterwards. Yeah, I'm that exciting these days...

I lived in Lehigh Acres most recently. I was a USMC recruiter there from '03-'06. I haven't been back since and don't miss it a second.

I saw it, was really busy then with work and a new house, and neglected in my reply. My apologies. Hopefully once things thaw out!

We have a town near us that have the "Shooters". For many many years they go around to business and homes and fire muskets to ward off evil spirits!

They have no projectiles but wadding and LOTS and LOTS of Black Powder. I am 11 miles away and you can hear the "Whummpp" when they shoot. The muskets are self made and designed so that the arm can take most of the recoil by allowing it to swing in a circle.

Some of the members here no what I am talking about... Pretty cool tradition.

VFW did a really nice party. Reservations, 50-ish folks, and the local band. Pot luck and Roast Beef Sandwiches Au Jus.

Celia and I left early came home, had our Sparkling Wine Toast, and watched some Netflix (The Witcher). I'm liking it so far (a lot, actually..)

Happy New Year to all and our support goes out to our Beset Brethren in Virginia. May they carry the fight to the necessary conclusion.
