Many of have you have indulged the rest of us by posting pics from the sandbox and behind the lathe so I thought I might contribute from a different angle. That is a thousand dollar+ roll of kevlar we're using to do body armor research by incorporating some new composite materials and theories. I'll bring some more once I have some cool stuff to share.

Re: Work pic

I've cut dozens of yards of kevlar and it takes high end fabric sheers and a good sharpening wheel to cut the stuff. Or, a CNC laser. Kevlar is hell on edges and the sheers go dull quickly. Great stuff, though. If you order a custom stock, say from Lone Wolf/Proof Research, make sure you pay the extra to get an All Carbon Fiber & Kevlar build. It's more expensive but it's lighter and much stronger.

Re: Work pic

Those are pretty nice fiberglass shears I've used for glassing surfboards, and they barely work, we need better ones, every time I make a cut I pull hairs and mess the weave up. Kevlar isn't very expensive, we just have to do a lot of tests, I think we're right around 30-50 yards, I'm not sure, I didn't order it. Thanks for the support, just want to do what I can to give our guys the best they can have. One of the big advances I think we'll make is by integrating carbon nanotubes into the composite design.
