So I just purchased a new 452 Varmint, I'm planning on building this gun up to be an extremely accurate rifle. (That is the reason I went with the 452, since the barrel is threaded into the action and I could do the work myself.) I have a couple questions and would like your thoughts on the ideas!
My first question is about the barrel screw that is dovetailed into the bottom of the barrel. My plan is to remove it completely. I have met a rifle builder who just uses the single action screw and gets 1/4" groups at 100yds. With the single action screw pillar bedded and the action skim bedded. (so he says, but I've met him and he seems to know his stuff) I have read other things about drilling and tapping for a second action screw. I found this this morning.

So far this looks like the best way to get around the issue. My question though is how would one go about attaching the small rectangular block (in the right side of the picture, in very front of the action) to the action securely?
Also I have heard the 452 barrels can be a beast to get out of the action. Any advice on getting it out? I plan to use an action wrench and barrel vice, any other voodoo you guys know of?
Thank you for any help, I apologize for rambling on.
