I read this in detail and this is a huge deal... ITAR not applied... DoJ had to pay the guys' legal fees. No prior restraint on speech.
This has massive implications, since it is perfectly legal to manufacture handguns and rifles. And even to sell them... And, arguably, if not selling across state lines, then there is no federal jurisdiction....
This may or may not be a game changer. What is a game changer is that the technology is coming... it's here for many. And in a decade, will be so prevalent that any kind of 'gun control' will be a joke.
They'll try 'ammo control' but in small volume, caseless ammo is going to be printable. The only question that will remain... how complex will the printed designs get? Well, they're printing the turbine fan blades in jet engines... that work at 1200 degrees and huge mechanical forces. So... the designs will get really interesting! Additive manufacturing lets you do things that you can only dream of with machine tools!
