Thanks..

It was built for a friend to the V-LTOR group,I dont think they build rifles for public sale?

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

very nice rifle.

That looks like a sub-moa group but it is tough to tell. You measure it?

Thanks for the datapoint on the factory 123 Amax MV. 2500 out of a 18". I'm building a 18" Grendel and was wondering what the factory ammo would do and had estimated between 2500 and 2550 based on other published data.

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

I prefer the Vltor, Larue, Sun Devil, and Mega uppers thus far
because of the thicker walls and good tolerances--want to try the
Raineer Ultramatch ---or may try a side-charger for next build

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

Thanks!

Yes I did record it, 3.3" or .6 MOA at 550 yards..

23 degress today was 2480FPS on the same lot of Hornady.

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

I was going to build the 6.5grendel from the Mega Mono rail upper rec,But I found this weapon turn key and ran with it..
I must say the V-LTOR equipment is very nice ,but the noveske lower looks like any other lower to me,Nothing special or are they ? ..

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

Nice Grendel...that sure makes for a Merry Christmas. When people ask me to describe what my Grendel's are like when shooting at steel I tell them it has about 20% more felt recoil than an AR15, and hits steel with about 80% the power of a 308. Overall, a really excellent compromise. I look at the Grendel as the perfect intermediate cartridge between the 5.56, and 7.62 military rounds, in that it gives the best of both worlds while avoiding the worst.

Sweet!

That will do 2520-2550-ish in the summer weather. Even in very dense cold air, 2480 is still super sonic for the 123gr AMax at 1000, which speaks volumes about how ballistically good that bullet is (a 175gr SMK doing 2600 MV isn't supersonic at 1000 in the cold). 25% less wind deflection vs a 77gr SMK plus a lot more hitting power. 6.5mm rocks!

Re: X-mas 6.5 Grendel

Its the answer for me,light weight CQB to 1k+ weapon,It will do it all pretty well..
Time will tell if its the end all be all for my the END weapon,At this time it fits the groove well..Better mags would be the push I need to mass stock ammo for the 6.5 Grendel...

I know there are better rounds available,But the cost is weight and size and possible longer OAL length, that cant compete with the AR15 ERGO and the 6.5 Grendel factory available ammo ..
