What would be a better rifle to buy ? I will be using it to hunt here and there not much walking will be done with it, and will be using it for long range off the bench and when I go out shooting with friends.

thanks for any input guys.

The Sendero II has the HS Stock with the Palm Swells. For me I have smaller hands so that stock is a no go for me. The original Sendero with the no Palm Swells is what I would like to get for a 300 Win Mag platform.
Which caliber are you looking at getting?

I have had excellent service from my 300WM Sendero. It is very accurate with my handloads and has been responsible for dispatching many pesky, crop-damaging doe at extended ranges.

I have also had great luck with my Sendero II shooting 168gr Berger Hunting VLDs at about 3200fps. I can typically make first round hits on 7" round steel targets at 700yds (if the wind doesn't get me).

Re: XCR Tac. or Sendero II in 300 Win Mag

I don't have really big hands but for me the palm swell is a must. Also looking at the weight of the SPS Tac in .308 that I currently own comes out to about 11 pounds fully loaded and I have been on 6 mile hunting hikes round trip, and I had no problem. As for caliber I'm going to get the 300 Win Mag.

If someone can give me some insight on the weight of a scoped Sendero II . Thanks.

The overall "equipped" weight will depend primarily on what base/rings/optic and any other options like Bipod, etc. you add to the package. The base Sendero SFII in 300WM weighs in at just shy of 9lbs (2.5lb stock and a 6.25lb barreled action). I would assume a minimum of an additional 2lbs for your optics/rings/base, plus any amount for bipod, ammo, etc.

I would guess you are looking at roughly 12lbs give or take on a total weight.

The Sendero SFII is a nice gun and has performed well for me. I would recommend it.

The 11.5 - 12 lb. range sounds right with a scope (NF NXS) on it and bipod.

Re: XCR Tac. or Sendero II in 300 Win Mag

I bought the XCR II Tact LR in 300WM to use as a lighter elk rifle. Lugging my DTA around abouve 7000 ft gets a bit of a hassel for flat lander lungs over the age of 50. The 300WM in the XCR shooting a 200gr Accubond over a max charge of RL25 dropped the 550# cow elk in her tracks at 200 yards just like the 338LM did last year. (She just slid 30 ft in the snow down the mountain).
