Thoughts on the XD pistols, particularly the new XDm? Look like a pretty solid firearm for under $600. I have not shot or really handled much of the XD line, just curious to hear from those that have.
I have 2 a XD-9 sub-comp and XDM-40 and both shoot really well. As for durability IMO they hold up well as i carry the 40 for close incounters with hogs. Some shooting ranges have them for demo runs so you can try them before you buy.
I have the XD Compact .40 in stainless. Looks a little blockier than it feels in the hand. It has run every bullet shape I have run through it without a problem. It's a good pistol.
The firing pin / striker travels in a snug, cylindrical raceway in the slide, that needs to be kept free of moisture or it will rust tight as a drum.
I have the XDM .45. I love it. Very smooth, little recoil, shoots awesome. It feels very natural in the hand. I only have 500 rounds through it, but its awesome so far. Not a single hiccup
