I hate to even admit or ask this, but here goes...

I picked up a XL 650 from Enos. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can quickly and politely answer for me.

Is the nut on the aluminum roller handle 1" ?
Is the nut on the aluminum roller handle supposed to be hard as all get out to thread on ?

It seems I need a new tool cause I don't have anything that will fit the nut on this thing. I imagine this is why Dillon sells a 1" wrench on their site ?

It seems like this nut has some kind of plastic in it as well. It threads on and turns maybe twice and this it's like it hits a wall. If I had the right tool, would this be a lot easier to get on ?

I'm afraid I'm gonna F this thing up if I just "force it" ya know?

Thanks.

Re: XL 650 w/ aluminum roller handle

As I recall, the big nuts on the loading dies are 1". I cut down a parts store wrench and put a hole in it for a lanyard for a reloading buddy of mine. After three calls to borrow my wrench because he lost his....he's now got a single purpose wrench attached to the reloading bench.

As far as the nut goes....from your description, it sounds like you're talking about a nyloc fastener. It'll thread on, but you'll have to turn it with a wrench or socket to finish the tightening. Once it's tight, though, it's not going to move unless you make it go.

Re: XL 650 w/ aluminum roller handle

The NyLoc nut on the rollerhandle is 7/8 inch. It is the same size as the nuts on the side of the frame supports on a XL650.

You will find that as you tighten this nut, the handle also turns. One trick is to tighten it about 99% with the handle facing you and little bit. As you tighten the 1% the handle will turn into position.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll pick up a 7/8" and 1" tomorrow. Good to know about the Nyloc nut and thanks for the 99 / 1 tip!
