The only blue part of VA :(
so i got this chassis from another fella here, all excited today when it showed. I cleaned everthing, bolted the action up and slapped in a mag and it wont lock. To my eye it appears that the mag is hitting a piece of the action that has a little threaded hole (where my old bottom metal screwed in) see pic...

so, before i go doing anything permanent, any suggestions? it almost looks like the mag needs a slight dip filed into the back to allow it to seat all the way.

thanks!

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

This looks like the front screw for the trigger guard on an ADL to me. If I were you, I would PM LoneWolfUSMC as he has this rifle in this very chassis and ask him for assistance.

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

That part of the receiver should not stick forward enough to hit the magazine.

When you install the chassis make sure the action is pushed as far to the rear as it can go before tightening the action screws. I just looked at mine and I believe there is enough clearance to cause a problem if you allow the action to creep forward when you install it.

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

took another look, pulled back as far as it can go and looking up into the magwell i can clearly see about 1/32'' of the screw tab in the magwell. trying to seat a mag a couple time gently you can see on the mag and tab where they are rubbing.

i see what you're saying, its hidden up there on that picture - didnt have my action in front of me when i was looking up pics.

thanks again

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

Got a set of calipers? If so meause the thickness from the forward edge of the screw hole to the edge of the tab. I will check it against a couple I have here.

I can tell you that the action that is currently in our chassis is an ADL and came with the mag box screwed in.

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

based on some advise i got from another member i took the AI mag and placed the back of it against a 3/4'' dowel and clamped it ever so slightly. you cant really even tell its not perfectly straight anymore but it fits and locks. chambers rounds, cycles perfect now.

you can still see it rubbing slightly on the tab but there are too many screws to take it out a fourth time tonight.

i appreciate the help guys!

thanks

Re: XLR chassis - little help?

Mine was the same way. I took a file and put a little bevel on it and everything worked fine. I did not want to bend all of my mags to fit this one gun.
