Hi everybody, second time posting on here in a long time, I mostly just lurk about and take the online lessons.

I own a XR-100 Remington Rangemaster 22-250. This gun has been stuck in the safe for way to long because I mostly shoot an older model GAP crusader. However I am beginning to find more time where I can shoot 50-100 rounds in a session and the GAP gets too expensive/uncomfortable to shoot that long. The XR has 1500ish rounds in it and will probably need a new barrel in 1000 rounds.

So on to the question. What do you think of the XR-100? Is it more or less favored than a normal R700? I was thinking of spending a chunk of $$ and having the action worked on and a new barrel thrown on it. Is this action worth it?
Also if you think it is worth the money, are there any other calibers I can rebarrel this to?

Thanks for any comments.

Re: XR-100 Rangemaster

It really depended on the range, sub 300 it shoots great. Once I started aiming at the 500/600 yard it would open to MOA and on a good day maybe 3/4 MOA. I only ever shot it that far on calm days.

Re: XR-100 Rangemaster

The XR-100 rifle is an excellent single shot. I've found mine to be the most accurate in my safe other than my benchrest rifle. Mine is a .204 and shoots around .25" at 100 yards. As for other calibers, anything that will fit a short action with the proper bolt face will work. If you want to go to a short magnum or smaller bolt face a new bolt would be needed. The XR-100 uses the same bolts as the model 7.
