Well, its happened to me now. I bought one of the 338 Xtreme rifles about 2 years ago. Its been a great rifle minus the fact that they sent me a used rifle, it had been in a magazine and shot quite a bit, for a BRAND NEW rifle price. I had to pay a smith to re-bed the stock as there was barely any inlet to work with, then had to pay for a coating because it came to me in the white. I was tired of the stock so I asked Bob (he owns Xtreme Machine) at shot show 2009 in Orlando if he was going to offer a new stock. He said yes, they had been hard at work on an aluminum chassis that had just been released as an option on new guns and a $800 upgrade for rifles that were already out there. And this is where it got fun! He told me when I got home to ship the barreled action and magazine to him and he would fit it to a new stock. I don't understand why the fitting was necessary if its a chassis that is built for his action.... but I send it anyways like he asks. He told me 3 weeks maximum to get it in the chassis and to have it anodized the color I wanted. At 3 weeks I called him to ask for an update and why I hadn't been called or emailed, the excuse I got this time was "we are swamped with making new guns for our one dealer". I told him I did not appreciate being placed on the back burner like that and wanted my rifle back as promised. He told me it was no problem and would call back in the next day. Well thats about 11 months ago. He tells me he will ship it back to my FFL last week. Well its been 8 days and nothing has shown nor does he have the common courtesy to answer the phone. He wont return my emails as well.

Be very weary of this guy and his company. They put me on the back burner for a stock for 11 months. He admitted to me they put my barreled action to the side and forget about it. He lied to many times to count and I am very upset with them. I also plan on telling this to his face at SHOT show in a couple weeks.

Im done ranting.... the end.

Re: Xtreme Machining

If anyone knows how to get ahold of this guy I would appreciate the help. Ive tried his shop phone and email multiple times. Would just like my property back at this point.

Re: Xtreme Machining

Im not here to ruin his business. Im here to get my property back. If all else fails I will track him down at SHOT show and deliver his options. Either ship my stuff back to me or come to KY for a court date.

Re: Xtreme Machining

This seems vaguely familiar.

I hope you get what was promised to you, I've been in similar situations and it sucks.

And for what its worth, I won't deal with companies named "Xtreme".

To predictable if the guy is really good at dodging customers.

Re: Xtreme Machining

Wish I could go to SHOT this year!! Too many irons in the fire, and I'm going on a real good hunt! lol

Good luck KY, I'm sure the publicity around his booth when you get there will be good for his business!!!

If I ran my business like that I'd be out of business!!!

Re: Xtreme Machining

LOL that Xtreme guy is a "tool".....Just remember back when the first magazine article was ever released on the 338XT that was sitting in a McRees Precision stock IIRC it was written by Godfreid (sp). Right after that article came out people called Xtreme about that stock and low and beyond he said he made it YET the article clearly has McRees Precision. So then Xtreme went into the scramble of "making"..more like copying his own and yet still tried to order certain parts from McRees.

Good Luck

Re: Xtreme Machining

Why would he ship to your FFL? If it is your rifle and you shipped it to him there is no reason, that I can see, for him not to send it directly back to you. Sounds like another dodge. send him a registered letter advising him that you will pick up your rifle, in person, @ SHOT show.

Re: Xtreme Machining

I remember him from one of the Shotshows a few years back.
he was one of the first guys to come out with the 338xtreme (or atleast he thought he was)lol. he talked like his rifle was the cats meow at the time.
Later,since you mentioned it.
i remember the stock being a Mcrees ,but he made it sound like it was his own. lol

Anyway KYSHOOTER338,i wish you luck man. love to be at this Shotshow to see the look on his face when you meet up with him.

Re: Xtreme Machining

Is this the guy from PA? I think his shop is in the Dubois/Luthersburg area. That's about an hour away from me and I go up that way to visit family every month or so. If you need any local assistance, let me know.

Re: Xtreme Machining

What we find out after a while is that all the guys building guns are small shops who might be running their 1st business, rather than larger corporations with funding and a business plan.
In the gun business this seems to be the norm.

Makes one really appreciate the above board, consistantly good, honest and timely work that GAP and KMW turn out. These are the rare birds.

I want to be there when you do and see him try and back himself out of this one!

Re: Xtreme Machining

Here is an update:

I sent him a very "to the point" email stating that I dont care what he has going on I want to know the status on my rifle and why its not done. I told him to call me before the end of the day. He called me at 8pm EST and said "you asked that I call you by the end of the day, and here I am" I simply responded "sir the end of the day was hours ago, its now well into the evening and you are interrupting my time with family". This was also during the first half of the Texas vs Alabama football game. He told me another bullshit story about how the stock has sat there for 5 months with no hinge for the folding option. I told him that was odd considering I told him numerous times I didn't like nor want the folding option. He said he has been on a constant fight with the guys that supply the hinge to him. I asked why he hadn't told me this months ago and I wouldn't have had to chase him down and constantly been inquiring about it. He told me he would have it done in "one more week, that he is machining his own hinge" and would give me the stock for free. I said that was appreciated but his lack of communication was not acceptable.

He is trying to make it right but I wont deal with him again. I guess when I shoot this barrel out I will have to go another route for a new barrel.

LMAO at this unethical POS. Mcrees Precision helps him out by supplying stock system for his rifle in the magazine article, he then literally copies the stock design down to the detail of using mcrees Precision folding mechanism and yet he feels he has been on a constant fight with "guys" to get the mechanism because he didn't even have the design and manufacturing talent to even slightly change the stock design to use a different folding mechanism LOL....What a clown!!!!

Re: Xtreme Machining

he is a clown. Ill probably get rid of this one. I told him if it wasnt here by Friday he would be hearing from our lawyer. He would have a long trip to KY to battle me in court.

Or ACME for that matter. I was actually looking at his site a few hours ago,but I din't remember the 338Xtreme being discussed here.

FWIW, if it were my stick, ATF would give him a visit.

Re: Xtreme Machining

I still dont have it back. He sent me a banged up stock that was the actual prototype stock he first made. It looked like shit and when I called him out on it he blamed it on a lackey in his shop. So I sent the rifle back on my dollar, again. He has promised to put it in the new stock and send it right back. If its not right this time I will be taking him to court and the ATF will be notified for his shady dealings.

Re: Xtreme Machining

Oh my God! I take it with this system you are pigeon holed into using him... that Blows. Oh well, look at all the money you saved not shooting it-Not! That’s why we shoot, to "control" our spending:)

what are you talking about? that makes little to no sense at all.

Re: Xtreme Machining

The way I take 858 comment:

You stated give me this or talk to the lawyer.

He still doesn't deliver the item as requested.

Your now giving him more time yet again to make it right.

You didn't send the lawyer on his ass.

He called your bluff. He doesn't believe you have the balls to get a lawyer involved in the matter and are making hallow threats towards him and his business. Another words he treating you like a pawn.

Re: Xtreme Machining

Sometimes it is best to resolve issues yourself and exhaust all options before having other parties get involved I dont know KyShooter but I believe this is exactly what he is doing. Everyone handles situations different. So I would be slow to judge.

Just my opinion

Re: Xtreme Machining

Sorry about your trouble, and I know some VERY TALENTED guys that live less than a mile from my home and have a great standing with the shooters on this page.If you would like just let me know and I would be happy to put yiu in touch with them.I wont mention any names on this forum, however if you want, just pm me and Im sure once you know the names you will recognise them quickly.Hope you get sqared away, but if not "there is more than one way to skin a jerk".Good luck!

I didn't think my post was all that confusing. You said you were going to confront him in person and then get all legal on his ass. He called your bluff and you reset your timeline.

So even after meeting face to face he sends you the wrong and beatup stock?? Does NOT say much in regards to what he thinks of you or your threats.

Thanks

Re: Xtreme Machining

dont start harping on the OP.

OP contact a lawyer and stop posting here. this is a legal matter and you sure as heck dont want this guy counter suing for slander

Re: Xtreme Machining

The timeline looks like this:

I send out my barreled action for the "new aluminum chassis" that he claims he designed, which I guess he had some serious input from McRee's

He claims he will get it put into the new stock and send it back within 2 weeks. This was face to face at SHOT show 2009 in Orlando. 3 months go by, no word from him.

On month 4: he finally replys to an email and says "well we have been busy building new rifles and we had to sit your aside, we almost forgot about it". I tell him I expect my rifle back within a week and he complies.

Month 6: I still have to track him down. Multiple emails and phone calls later he finally replys by email saying they are trying to move into a new shop and he will send it out. One week later there is no rifle, I call and he says he is waiting on hinges from his "supplier", that their guy has been giving them a lot of problems and he will have to make his own and send it back.

2 weeks later I get the rifle: The stock is rusted, it looks like it was drug behind a large truck on a gravel road, its obviously been abused. My bolt was not fully assembled and was just laying on top of my barrel, scratching it all to hell. I call him to find out what the deal is. I leave messages and he calls back. I explain the situation and he basically calls me a liar while Im starring at the rifle. My FFL gets on the phone with him and backs my statements up. We take pictures and send it back, he looks at the pictures and still says he sees no problems. I explain the hinge to him and he says that must be their old prototype stock and it was the wrong one. I need to send it back ON MY DOLLAR and let him put it in a new stock.

Now I just got an email saying he has it and wants to work on it. I gave him till the end of this week.

Im not going to waste my time or money on a lawyer at this time. At this time all Im out is a lot of time and money for shipping. Ill let him try and get it right and if he cant I will sell the damn thing. Which would be a shame because when I had it, it performed great. If it comes down to me needing a lawyer I to resolve this I will not hesitate to pursue it.
