if you had to choose Leupold or nightforce ?

my rifle in a 7mm-08 in a XLR chassis, 700 avg range 162 grn projectile ..
I want ot change out my 3-9 mildot to something better.

try to keep cost down (fed employee on a severe budget)

Illuminated and which reticule ???

I love the 2.5X10X42 but I think it's out of my price range ..

I know a lot to ask with little info ..

If you are asking about difference in quality and options - Nightforce. Period. But comparing the two is like apples to oranges. Nightforce typically not on the menu, if shooter is on a budget. Leupold typically is less in both price and weight. Personally, I would choose the Sightron SIII or a Vortex Viper PST/HD before going with a comparably priced Leupold VX-3.

Vortex or SWFA should do what you need effectively. Read the Sticky on Optics Selection, if you have not already done so.

Vortex Tactical - Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP EBR-1 MOA

Would get one of those before a Leupold. I have had a Leupold 3.5-10x40 before.

You can find a used nightforce 3-15 in the low $1k's here on the hide, with a little patience and diligence. It may not have zero stop or fast turret, but the glass quality will still be NF.

Or you can get the Vortex, SWFA and shoot your rifle wishing you got a NF. Sell either and lose money, then get a used NF next year.
