I really hate doing these kinds of thrads. There is already so much info on this site and others you would think I can make an informed decision. Well I cant.

I am wanting to build a Precision rifle but do it on a budget. Meaning. Buy parts as I can afford it. My original plan was to get a Tikka T3 .308 Varmint. Its a pretty good shooter out of the box. I love the actions on them and the price was pretty good. Knowing I would want/need to add a 2 stage trigger I was going to go to Tom Myers as he has done them in the past. Well Come to find out he isnt doing them now and not sure if he ever will. Depends on the interest and probably having an "Over the Pond" distributer. I also planed to add a stock. A RCB chassis to be more precise. I have a wood version on my .22 and I feel that the AI style just fits me very well.

Im sure I can still get the stock from Pete but the Trigger has be pretty worried. Do I still plan on a Tikka and hope I can get a trigger when Im ready to buy? (A few Months)

I know everyone says to use Remmys, or a custom version of the Remmy. I have no problem with that and I know I can get a Jackson trigger and the AI chassis for it but Im concered with out of the box performance. I cant afford a Custom Action. I have about 650.00 to spend on the rifel so I can start shooting sooner then later.

Another thing I read all the time is to save long to get it all right away vs getting the rifle now and shooting with it and building over time. So...Talk some sense into me. Getting the Remmy trued up concerns me some as I dont have a smith in this area that is capable of it..At least that I know of. Price is also a concern. I want to do it all right the first time so I dont have to cry twice but its just going to take a little bit of doing and not just calling up GAP and ordering one.

So... Lets have those words of wizdom. Thanks guys.

You have a good Smith not too far away in GA, "American Precision Arms" in Jefferson GA should only be a few hours away from you by car.

Thanks Longbow. That might be a good option. I have thought about getting a Savage but I just dont know. I have never liked them..for no good reason either. Since AI is coming with the Savage version of the stock I know I want/need for comfort that might be a good option. I will start researching savage parts and threads.

Am open to other options too. Maybe I should just save this year yet and get a used one already trued and in an AI stock.
