I had great hopes for this even though it's a cheapy rifle.
Less than 50 rounds into it and rounds won't chamber... I broke the barrel in 30 rounds of Hornady Match 225 ELD's. no problem except it seemed a little stiffer than should be.
Then I started doing the load work up (according to Gavin)
Using new Hornady cases, Ramshot Magnum, Federal 215 primers with low grain count 72.0, 72.5, 73.0, 73.5 - at 73.5 there were 2 rounds that would not fully chamber (allow the bolt to close down) so I figured it was my mistake and didn't force it. The next couple fired ok.. then one after that did not. I quit at that point.
At home I inspected the bolt all looks good. But in cycling through several rounds both match and hand loaded NONE of it fully chambers now allowing the bolt to close. Case inspection 100%. I remeasured all the ammo I hand loaded as well as the match ammo. All is good. Visual inspection of the receiver and barrel looks good. Next thing I need to do is video the bore for closer inspection.
I need to add -- I did replace the bolt shroud with the Anarchy Outdoors. But that installed flawlessly.
Ruger has offered to look at the rifle and will issue a RMA. But I want to check here see if anyone might help me.
Any ideas?
