Your input on my .338 NM build.

I've got a XLR chassis inbound and will be using a Surgeon XL action on this rifle and most likely a 27" Krieger barrel. Any thoughts, info, pics, ammo, reloading data, etc. would be appreciated. The rifle will be used as a "long range" tactical rifle. Thanks in advance.

My 338 NM is almost finished. I went with a Surgeon action as well with a 27" Hart barrel (1 in 10). Manners T5A stock is on the way and bedding and painting are all that remain.I did go with a DE brake, a CG Jackson 2 stage, Razor HD, and had a spare barrel made while I was at it.

The one thing I did was send Hart a cartridge with the dimensions I wanted so they could size the chamber to it.

AICS chasis 2.0
APA FB brake
Jewell trigger

I'm getting 2800+ fps and excellent accuracy with 300gr Bergers and MK's

Your build sounds great, my only input would be a bit shorter barrel as I think you can get away with it in the Norma. I basically am shooting the same speeds I shot with my old lapua that had a 27.5 inch tube and an extra grain of powder; ....as all my case capacity was used up with deep seated bullets to fit the mag.

Just my 2 cents

I'm glad I went with the 25" barrel, almost wished i'd went an inch or two shorter.
