Think it would be cool to see (and read about) everyone's rifle that has the most kills for them. Maybe with a pic even. Don't care so much as to exact numbers, but why that particular rifle has drawn the most blood.

Here is mine.
No doubt, the cheapest rifle in my collection, but was my high school graduation present from my parents. NEF .45-70 Govt. single shot. This rifle has ridden behind my seat for years and probably over 500K miles. Taken literally dozens of hogs and deer and three bobcats and a coyote. Just broke it down for it's first re-model. Always been easily accessed and true. Love the gun and the memories I have made with it. I have treated it bad and it has always served me well.

Would love for one of my "nice" .308's to hold this "most notched" position, but the truth is, it will take a LOT of hunting for any other rifle of mine to catch up to this NEF.

This was my first hog hunt with my son (now 7).....

Elk in Clorado, coastal blacktails in California, and pigs and whitetails in Texas. My Remington 700 mountain rifle in 270 win has been a constant companion. It was a gift when I was in high school and replaced a much trusted marlin 30-30 lever action rifle. We had a rocky beginning and I missed the same buck 4 times one morning before swearing to throw it away and go back to my trusty 30-30. It's a very light rifle and recoils like a much larger caliber round, and the mountain contour barrel heats up fast and starts throwing shots. But, I continued to shoot it and eventually started hand loading for it. The success I have had with this rifle is due to my stubbornness to make it shoot and a gradual increase in trust as I gained additional experience with it. It doesn't hurt anything that I am about 40 lbs heavier now than then and have more mass to absorb the not inconsiderable recoil...

I shot this blacktail in Trinity county CA in 2010 over a rain swept weekend that left me soaked to the bone, but very happy with my success. It was not a long shot by any measure (60-70 yards estimate) but through the window I had to shoot through I could see his eyes and his nose. The impact is a bit right of aim but got the job done.

Trust, and everything else will follow...

My ruger 10/22. I have no idea how many birds, squirrels, and rabbits that rifle has killed over the years. I doubt any of my larger rifles will ever catch up.

M1896 Swedish Mauser, made by Carl Gustav in 1900 (yes, 113 years old!)
I bought it from Century Arms for $50, as it was missing iron sights. Swapped in other sights and discovered it printed 1/2 MOA, prime candidate for customizing. Cut and crown, lightened everything possible, Fajen stock, matte blue finish. I would like to turn the diameter of the barrel down to remove the military step, but don't want to alter how it shoots.
Amazing caliber in a great rifle.

Reminds me, My father won a single shot youth 20 gauge in a turkey federation turkey shoot and gave it to me at age 8, I think the squirrels on our farm thought it was the apocalypse! But my first pellet gun, a 10 pump daisy, has to have killed over 500 birds, squirrels, rabbits, and other unfortunate creatures over my first 12 years.

Here's my old trusty rusty. Old school cool p-dog 98 mauser with a 22-250; seen here in it's last duty as night varmint-er dress(lightforce 170mm stryker.) For twenty odd years now, this girl has piled up everything that I did my part on. I don't even know many critters it has taken. It was my "go to" gun at the back door for night time barn raiders.

I've finally shot the barrel out of it and can't make up my mind where to go with it next. I'm looking hard at the 22 Creedmoor/22-243/20-250 as possibilities.

Cheers,
Breeze

I'm digging the old swede! I've got an '02 myself and wondered about re-stocking it. That fajen stock looks good and x55 is still a smoking killer.

The only pic I have with me, a pal from Scotland putting her through the paces.

Interarms Mk X started life as a .308, re-barreled to .358 Winchester and lightened every possible thing we could. Love the feel and it has killed literally tons of animals. Does a great job on deer. Built it for Colorado mountains and Main Moose.

The barrel is as thin as we could get it, a guy in KC did the work, Mike Allee

Mag box and trigger guard is lightened too.

This one.....by far. Old Sako L579 in .220 Swift. After 8 barrels, it has 300+ big game kills and over 1900 coyotes to it's credit.

I don't hunt with it much anymore, but it's one I'll never part with.

My now-retired Daisy pump-action bb-gun has hundreds if not close to 1000 little critters on it, including bumble bees.

After that, my 22LR Marlin model 25N and a quickly approaching 22c pellet rifle, but both of those are still just pups compared to what that BB gun has taken care of.

My actual center fire rifle kills would go to my 6.5 Creedmoor and it's just barely into double digits.

yea! its all fun and games until Pat shows up!! I have a 25-06 that is a killer but not even worth putting up after Pat shows us how its done!! I'm so jealous!!!

Pat,

You must be mistaken, you couldn't have possibly killed all those critters with a 220 Swift. That's only a prairie dog/rock chuck gun :)

My smith wants me to 220 swift barrel my above pictured 98 mauser.....you've got me thinking about it.

Cheers,
Breeze

I've killed so many birds, squirrels, and chipmunks with my .22 benjamin pump air gun. Dang I can remember all the nice headshots I got :).

Ruger 77/22. I won't even begin to estimate the numbers on it, but when I was younger, it wasn't uncommon to go through a 550 round brick of the federal 22lrs from Walmart in a weekend. While well over 50% can be chalked up to boys being boys, there were a significant number of squirrels, birds, coons, and other misc small creatures taken along with quite a few pigs to boot. If just big game, Remington 700 stainless synthetic 270. Dad had a 30-06 just like it that he sold a while before he got me the 270. For whatever reason I always wanted the 06 instead... guess I just wanted to be just like dad. The 270 was my go to gun for over 10 years though... lots of good memories with that one too.

hands down the biggest killer. dont know how many prairie dogs i have killed with this.

What ranges/distances have you taken game with that .220 swift?

Here's mine...Going back in time, there are many more kills,I dont have them on this computer,I was deer hunting in Idaho in some really steep country, ended up rolling my horse about 4 times down the mountain,( thank god only the rifle was hurt)here is the result...last years buck ,buck from 3years ago,and way back, the happy hunter that bought me the rifle,Model 700 Clasic,300wby great out of the box shooter, and a nice tip on a guided hunt!needless to say I am heart broken...I just got the new stock, but the 24 years of dings and scrapes from all the great hunts, well, its hanging on the wall in two pieces

I am going to have to 2nd my Benjamin air rifle. I will have to see if I can get a pic to post of it as I still have it 30 years later. The air seals are gone but there is no way I would part with it.

It is good to know I wasn't the only kid that shot everything that walked, crawled, flew, swam or slithered growing up.... I must have a couple of thousand minnows to my credit!

My centerfire would be an old 270 remington BDL I worked all summer long when I was 15 years old to buy. I, like many kids, didn't take care of it so the barrel is no longer serviceable but it probably has 50-75 whitetails to its credit over the years.

Decided to photograph my Dad's rifle today after a hunt. It has probably accounted for over 500 deer/hogs over the last 30+ years.

Rifle:
Weatherby Mark V Fibermark (their first fiberglass stock I believe)
.270 Weatherby Magnum
It has shot 0.5 minute with factory loads from day one.

Scope:
Swarovski 3-12x56

Its worn a little over the years as its been hunted damn hard. But that just adds to its character. I'm sure I will inherit it one day. I may re-barrel it, but I will never cover up the wear.
