Hi guys,
I am a new member and have had my eye on a DPMS LR 308L for hunting and long distance shooting. I really like this gun as it is light and perfect to carry in the woods. From what I have seen they are real shooters. I have a rock river ar 15 and love it. I have really lusted after a DPMS 308 for a long time. I have got one on lockdown and was planning on picking it up on Monday. Just looking around tonight online I have seen alot of owners pretty unhappy with this gun with mag issues and jamming. This is alot of money for me to spend and I would feel like I had been kicked in the nuts if I got it to the range and it jammed every few shots. Should I wait 6 months and pick one up then or buy this as I was wanting to hunt with it asap. The gun store just got them in as they where just built. I was told by DPMS they are on a 9-12 month wait for the gun. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you in advance for your help.........

Ya know, for every one post of problems of most quality manufacturers rifles, there are 100 that function flawlessly and are never mentioned because of it. That said, I always go with Armalite. Just about any AR can be made to work with a little "polishing". Do what feels right.

Never had a bit of problem with mine and it is unbelieveably accurate. It would not be my choice for hunting and carrying through the woods as it is probably the heaviest gun that I own and I like to hunt with bolt guns. All in all, I have well pleased with mine.

You are correct of course about most of them being really
heavy. The 308L is a light ver. of the gun. It only weighs 7.9 pounds.
