Rifle Scopes Z8i vs Razor HD Gen II

I have a Z8i 2.3-18 I just purchased last month. I am thinking about selling it and buying a 2nd (just bought on for my 6.5CM Tikka Friday) Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27. It would be going on a hunting rifle adding about another 1.5lbs to the rifle bringing it up to 10.5lbs. Would this be a bad switch?

GENII’s are comp scopes in my opinion. There are a lot of better options for hunting especially if your packing. I own 3 Razor Gen II but all are on PRS rifles

I figured they were pretty comparable. Weight to me isn't that big of a factor, I'm only 29. I just want it for the increased zoom for when target shooting.

My Tikka Super Varmint has a Razor II on it.
I use it for everything.
A little bit of extra weight is okay, leaves your options open.

Other option is to upgrade to the z8i 3.5-28.

Is twilight shooting and weight a concern? If so stick with the Z8i.

If reticle, price, and dialing turrets is, go the Rzr

The z8 will have much brighter glass for hunting. Also the heavier vortex might throw the balance off on the rifle. It’s ok on a heavy PRS gun, but might be too heavy on a lighter hunting rig. I wouldn’t do it. Honestly if you want more of a tactical hunting scope the Kahles k624 is great. Lighter and very bright

Go for the Razor AMG, not too dissimilar from the Razor Gen II but lighter.
