I know it doesn't have a true zero stop that bottoms out.

But can you re-index the elevation knob with a hash mark on the tube to have a quasi zero stop?

I have a Swarovski Z6i and it doesn't have a true zero stop but you can re-index it so you know where to return it to zero.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

Any good scope will have turrets taht can be adjusted to zero out at your specific zero - that is not a "zero stop." A zero stop is a mechanical component of the turret that prevents you from down past your zero.

I have a Hensoldt 3-12, best scope I own, it doesn't have a zero stop but has turrets that can be loosened and reset to zero.

The screw on top is the interface, quick and easy.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

No, there are colored horizontal hashes that correspond the the numbers on the turret: white line is first revolution, yellow line is second revolution (yellow numbers apply) and so on.

A 20MOA base throws a monkey into the wrench, so don't get lost, but it works as it should.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

Coolaid is using a 3-12x Hensoldt with three turns. My 4-16x Hensoldt has an elevation knob with two rows of numbers that are marked 0-12 in white and 12-24 (mils) in yellow. A horizontal yellow line is exposed by the elevation knob when you transition to the second turn. However, I'm using a 30 MOA canted Picatinny rail that changes my "zero." To reset the point where the yellow line is exposed, there is a screw underneath the elevation knob that simply raises or lowers the knob. This system works very well and there is little chance that you would be confused for very long about which turn you are on. I can turn the elevation knob only a few mils below zero before the erector bottoms out - a zero stop of sorts.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

Cool, I'll look in my turret for that screw.

I might know these things if I read the instructions.

I even speak/read German, so I really have no excuse.

Thanx, Jack, that might be good info!

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

If you got a funny screwdriver with a flat, green handle then you probably have the same knob adjustment I have. Remove the screw from the top and use the tool to make the adjustment with the knob in place. Yeah, read the instructions mein herr!

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

One-Eyed is right. I have the 3-12 FF and it has the same capabilities in regards to raising and lowering the knob.

BTW -dealing with Nathan at Hudisco is a pleasure. Good guy, great product.

Easy choice, Hensoldt.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

And yes, Hensoldt, hands down, no question. I own both (Hensoldt and 3-15 Premier), both are great, Hensoldt is great-er.

Site picture on the Hensoldt is something you gotta experience to really appreciate.

I shot a few months back with a BORTAC sniper, he shot my Premier and said, "Damn, that's a nice scope." And it will be his favorite, till he shoots the Hensoldt.

Re: Zeiss Hensoldt and zero stop....

The solution one eyed Jack gave is correct but it took me a couple days to figure it out. The instructions in the manual were not the best. However the 4-16 is the best scope I've owned. It becomes forgetable as it just works.
