I am an amateur shooter new to this forum (as a member) but have read numerous informative posts. I am now in need of some opinions.

I have a Rem. 700 PSS in .308
I have an M1a "loaded"

I have a Zeiss 3 x 9 tactical scope around $900
I have a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10 x 50mm around $475.

What scope would you put on which rifle, and why?

I was going to put the Zeiss on the M1a but read that the PSS will probably shoot more accurate then an M1a, hence I thought I would put the expensive Zeiss on my Remington.

My shooting is limited to 500 yards, and I also use the Remington for hunting.

Sure would appreciate some insight as I am unsure.

Regards

Re: Zeiss or Nikon?

Trial and error my friend. Put a scope on each rifle, doesn't matter which scope on which rifle, and go out and shoot them. Switch the scopes and rifle combinations around and see which one you like the best. You can determine for yourself which rifle is the most accurate and which rifle/scope combo you like the best.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Re: Zeiss or Nikon?

I have an older Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14X44 MC. It is a very good scope, would be mounted on a rifle right now except for one snag.

Its elevation knob rotates clock-wise to increase. Thats opposite of my other scopes. If the Zeiss line still does that it could cause problems if you switch from rifle to rifle.

I had several dirt buffaloes from dailing the wrong way on my Zeiss as I was used to a Leupold. Oh, I had to use a 20MOA base to reach 1000 yards.

I've used Nixons, found the glass was good, the knobs a tad stiff, and some former Nixon users felt the customer service wasnt up to industry standards. They sold theirs and didnt look back.

Good Luck
