I wanted to find out if anyone has or have used the New Zeiss Victory PRF 8x26 Rangefinder? I have read up on it and it looks nice but no one here has one that I can see my self. I also do not understand their accuracy past 600 yards it says plus minus .5%

I would appreciate any comments/feedback about this Reangefinder. I was leaning towards Swarovski but Zeiss also looks interesting

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

havent played with one that much. I liked it though. the accuracy is give or take .5% of the measured distance. if it measures 800 yards, .5% is 4 yds. So the distance is between 796 and 804 yds. make since?

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

yes it does and that is what I thought, but all others even cheaper quality rangefinders are +- 1 upto 1500 yards so why the latest model of Zeiss is more I could not understand.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I recently purchased on of these rangefinders and I'm impressed. The quality of the glass is nothing short of outstanding. The reticle is well designed. The readings are consistent and accurate. This unit is money well spent.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

thank you for your note. What is the furthest you were able to range with it. If you have seen the Swarovski, would you say its compatable with it.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

If you want consistently over 1000 yds the Swarovski is your choice. The Zeiss is a great rangefinder - it can't reach quite as far on game or targets, but it's also ~$300 less.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I have ranged with mine to 1478yds. Today in fact.
The optics are exceptional. I have no use for the BIS but it is there if your rifle ballistics match it. I was hesitant to spend the money but I am sure glad I did.
I chose it over the Swaro because of price difference.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I compaired the Leica, Zeiss and Swarovski head to head for a little while the other day. They all have great glass. The Zeiss beat out the Leica in ranging ability at longer distances, ranging anything and everything from people to buildings. The Zeiss gives a reading almost instantly after pushing the button. I chose the Swaro because it would range smaller objects several hundred yards further (about 500!!!) then the other two and was hitting trees at almost 2000! It was on the slow side...but more then makes up for it in performance. The sample list has (or had) a few Swaro's for $699.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I've had a zeiss for about a year now and am very happy with it. I guess it depends on how far your trying to go. If consistent readings out to 1200 will do it for you than it's money well spent. It will certainly go further, but it starts to get a little more hit and miss. If your going further than it sounds like a swaro is the way to go. I also like how quickly the measurements are displayed. I would certainly buy it again.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I bought the Zeiss a few months ago via LibertyOptics. Looking for price/performance value. Ultimately I may go with 10x Geovids but thus far I'm fully satisfied with the Zeiss.

As one comparison: I sat side-by-side with a buddy ranging targets at recent praire dog match (steel dog targets but with full-sized IPSCs next to them). Ranges: 200 yds through 425 yds. My buddy was using a Geovid 8x. We were getting the same readings on each target (+/- 1 yard). My readings were popping up quicker. Note: the dogs out at 400+ yds are tough to range on, that's where the locating IPSC targets come into play.

I have also been able to range to to 1000 yds fairly reliably (out to 1200 yds a few times). I have no doubt the Swaros are better if you're routinely going well past 1000. Virtually all of my ranging is 1000 yds and in (matches, not hunting).

Optics: I think they are optically "v. good" (clarity, brightness, contrast). Others that routinely use good binos have made the same comment when they try my Zeiss.
The aiming reticle is small enough to hold the aim even at distant targets.

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

I have a Zeiss and Swaro. Zeiss is lighter, quicker to range, and the reticle is way better. Swaro will ranger better, though. Example: Zeiss will hit houses a little past 1400m while Swaro will get returns out to about 1950m. Just my experience. What else do you need to know?

Re: Zeiss Victory Rangefinder

Can't help you much with just the RF, although we have tested the Ziess 10x RF bino's against the Geovids. The Ziess was able to range much further, we were able to get returns over 1800yds where the Leica was out before 1200yds. Conditions were late Oct, 40F temps, no wind and clear as a bell post-frontal. The guy that owned the Leica was awww...I wish I had of waited for those....
