I have a Zermatt origin now, and I would like to build a TL3 to try AW mags but be able to use some of my origin barrels on the TL3. Ray at Zermatt said PVA used to make a ring to move the barrel out .100 so u could do this, since the origin tenon is .100 longer. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone that currently makes one. I talked to PVA and they said they don't make them any more.

(oops sorry wrong way…)

Can this be done with a barrel nut prefit? I understand that if it's a shouldered prefit it would need the spacer.

But can a barrel nut prefit just be headspaced out and torqued?

I would think u could but my origin barrels are all proof shouldered pre fits. Im probably going to call in a favor at the machine shop i use to work at if no one can point me in the right direction to buy one. I wish someone would make a lug that was .250 think and had the .100 spacer on the front.

These recoil lugs have been sold out for a minute. Has anyone taken a TL3 barrel and had the shoulder cut back to make it fit an Origin? Seems like you could make it fit a solus by doing this as well. 🤔

I’m in a similar boat. Wanting to use TL3 LA barrels (same dimensions as origin) on a TL3 SA action.

Just about any machine shop should be able to help. But I ended up picking up a few of these and they’re promising:

They’re all just ever so slightly thicker than 0.1”, which is good. I just need to take them to a flat stone a little bit and then trim down the outer diameter by putting it in the drill press or maybe router.

A local machine shop is definitely the better route though.

I dont have access to a surface grinder right now. So I made 2 on the lathe at work and then had a local shop grind them. I gave them a tolerance of +-.00025 and they are all over that. I made them out of 416 stainless and they blend into the barrel perfect.

For anyone that is wanting to do this, here are some pictures of the spacer and the relief cut i had to make on my proof barrel. It looks like proof leaves a register on the origin barrel for the recoil lug on the origin. If your origin barrel is like that u have to cut that register shorter then the .100 for the spacer and smaller then the minor diameter of the thread. Its pretty simple and will still work just fine if you want to put the barrel back on the origin. Also if u make a spacer make sure u make a small relief or radius on the barrel shoulder side, if u dont there will be a gap.
