zero change when moving scope

I moved my scope back a couple of slots on my rail to get better eye relief and when I went back to shoot my poi moved down 3 moa and left 3.5 moa. Is this normal? I have my scope mounted with Mark IV rings on a Badger 20 moa rail and I torque the cross bolts to 65in. pounds each time.

Re: zero change when moving scope

Yes its definately going to move if you change where the scope was sitting on the gun. I wouldnt worry about it unless the zero moves the next time you shoot it.

Re: zero change when moving scope

The rings where actually bedded to the scope 10 years ago. I have removed it several times and replaced it to the same location and it didn't change but about .25moa if that much. But when I moved it back down the rail it shifted.

Re: zero change when moving scope

Normal for point of aim to shift with moving your scope. Your eye's focal point changes, and the angle in which you look into the scope changes. If you wear glasses there is the difference in looking through a different part of your lens as well.
