Which do you guys prefer on your scopes and why? A scope with SFP and zero-stops or a scope with FFP and no zero stop?

in a perfect world I could afford FFP and Zero stops...but I can't. Just trying to figure which of the combos I listed are more beneficial.

I hear ya man you can't always have your cake and eat it too. IMO if a scope only had about 5 mills per turn I would want a zero stop on it but if it had like 10+ per turn I don't see it as a big deal. My Hensoldt doesn't have a zero stop, granted it will only go down 6 mills past zero but I've never had to go down to find my zero again. When you can get to well past 1K in one turn it's pretty difficult to get lost.

For range work and hunting you really don't need FFP or zero stop.
For most comps you can get by with same.
Zero stop is nice, but I've never really needed it unless your rivals at the match mess with your scope adjustments when you're not looking.
But when shooting multiple targets at multiple distances on a single stage, using the reticle for holdovers at different magnifications, then you need FFP.
Buy the better scope. Don't get stuck thinking that you need to pay for 'features' that you won't use.
For range work and hunting you really don't need FFP or zero stop.
For most comps you can get by with same.

Keep saving up til you can? No sense in spending 1300+ on something that isn't quite what you want when 1700+ would get you what you do want etc...

Keep saving up til you can? No sense in spending 1300+ on something that isn't quite what you want when 1700+ would get you what you do want etc...

So am I right in saying that there is just alot more dialing in with a SFP scope when you change magnification then? So the shooter would just have to get better at making the adjustment calculations?

Nightforce 3x15 with Mil Turrets and a Mil Reticle.
Yes your Mil Holdovers will change when you change Magnifications.
But its 15 power, I suspect you won't turn it down below 15 for anything past 100 yards.

You get close range movers you will be happy to have an FFP scope.
I would not buy a SFP scope unless I didn't have an option.
Zero stops are not a big deal unless you are shooting at night or get lost a lot.

I'm with you on the FFP, but also if my scope doesn't have a zero stop I either make one or make sure I note somewhere readily avaiable on the scope which turn my zero lives at.
I saw 5% (3 out of 66) of shooters on the stages I was RO'ing this weekend get twisted on their turrets.

I prefer zero stops. When you are done shooting at a stage or the day. There is no thought process in bringing back to zero. This is one of the features I look for in a scope now.

Zero stops are fine, but the Nightfore is IMHO supirrior to the Leupy and therefore I'd go with the Nightforce
