So I purchased the following BUIS for my POF P308 and have a zeroing issue.
-Troy Industries Front HK Folding BattleSight
-Troy Industries Rear Di-Optic Folding BattleSight
I installed both sights as per the Troy instructions and took my P308 to the range to zero the rifle at 50 yards. I had a spotter (ex-Marine) who was calling my shots and called the first 3 shots as bottom of the cardboard which was a good 24" below the bottom of my 16"x10" Shoot-N-C target. I also purchased the Troy sight adjustment tool so I cranked down the front sight about 3 notches then shot 3 more shots. Shot came up a little on the cardboard so I cranked the front sight post down until it wouldn't crank down any further then shot 3 more shots. My shots were in the duct tape that I used to tape the bottom of the Shoot-N-C target to the cardboard backer. I am now out of options because I have turned the front sight post down as far as it will go and I'm still a good 8"-10" below bulls eye. I had my spotter shoot the rifle who also agreed that the front sight post needs to go lower even though it's adjusted to its lowest position.
I am following the aiming instructions for the rear Di-Optic sight which says to put the top of the front sight post into the center of the rear diamond shaped sight hole. Now, If I put the top of the front sight post at the very top of the rear diamond shaped hole I am on the bulls eye. Also, the rear sight has a smaller half diamond sight that flips up for shooting at yardages between 200M-600M. If I use that I am also on bulls eye.
Why am I unable to get this front-rear Troy sight combination to zero at 50 yards? Any thoughts, suggestions? Is there a lower front folding sight that I should be using for my rifle?
