Loco,Ok.
Newb question. Im using H4350 exreme powder on my. 243 and running the shootera app. Do I still need to enter my zero temp. and current temp. Im thinking it I do but some explanation would help. Thanks.

Re: Zeroing Temp on shooter app

You enter the atmospheric conditions for when you zero'ed the load on your rifle to account for differences between that day and when you shoot next. You should only have to do it once when you build the load profile the first time.

Re: Zeroing Temp on shooter app

If you zero @ 100 yards it really doesn't matter what temperature, pressure or altitude settings are. You need to enter the current atmospheric settings when shooting at distances past your (relatively short) zero. The preference is always to avoid having to enter altitude. It's best if you can use (uncorrected) station pressure + temperature or density altitude, if you have that.

I am new at this stuff and was wondering why they would recommend doing that? I am not challenging that just wanting to understand why?
Thanks

Because the weather needs time to act on the bullet's trajectory and inside 300 yards the bullet is not effected by the changes in weather enough to worry about it.

At 100 yards, the bullet is moving too fast to feel it.

Re: Zeroing Temp on shooter app

Is their a thread dedicated to knowlede and usage advice for the shooter app? i have tried to read the user manual but still have some questions,

I am starting to try to watch things like powder temp ( is this ammo temp) and how do you moniter your ammo temp. do you just consider the outside air temp your ammo temp? or cary a lazer thermomiter type device and shoot it at your exposed ammo? or do you just check your load on a crono at like 70 degrees and then 90 degrees OAT then calculate the difference per degree?

The one exception to this is if you are standing outside peeing and it freezes before it hits the ground. In that case, the weather will effect bullet drop a tad @ 100. :)
