Hi folks - was wondering if I could get some info please.

I know with 2nd focal plane scopes, the reticle measurements are only accurate at one zoom power (e.g. 22x power on Nightforce NXS 12-42), however it makes sense for the reticle measurements to either double or half their intended measurements at 11 and 44 power (i.e. half and double their "intended" values) - trouble is I'm not sure which way round it works ... is it double or half @ 11 ? (Common sense would say double at 11 and half at 44 as the field of view decreases - I hope this doesn't mean I don't have any common sense !) :))))))))

I realise that it won't be entirely accurate given the NXS doesn't go down to 11 or up to 44 - but it's better than a wild guess

Thanks in advance.

Re: Zoom levels on 2FP scopes affecting reticle ......

The issue you will run into is that the power markings on your scope arent always precise so you know your max and min powers are right but 22 power might not be right on the mark for 22 power and being off could cause some serious issues with your ranging ability.

Now that being said if you really wanted to you could use an item of known size at known range to figure out what points in your scopes zoom range are exactly 22 for instance or 11 or whatever other value you wanted to get then mark the zoom ring.
