Projectile Choice for Defensive Loads?

I am putting together a large frame 6.5CM gas gun that will be used for fun at the range as well as the "civil unrest scenario". What kinds of projectiles should I be choosing for defensive ammo? I am thinking that I should go with a tough bullet like a bonded Gold Dot or something like a Nosler Partition. Am I on the right track or should I be considering something else?

Thanks in advance.

Lapua Center X trending higher over time?

Averages 1083.13 1044.5 1063.8. 38.7 7.7

Above is my log for a lot of Lapua Center X. Wondering if the trending higher velocities is the barrel "breaking in" or possibly temp related. Extreme spreads and standard velocity are staying around ~ 38.7 and 7.7 FPS respectively but the MAX, MIN and AVE are creeping up.

Using a Garmin Xero Chrono.

Rifle is a Vudoo 360 w/ a 24" 1:16R 5 Groove 1.20" Bartlein Barrel.

SOLD Primal Rights CPS

I ended up with two CPSs so selling this one. Unfortunatly I don’t have either of the primer tubes nor the SRP priming pin. Those items can be purchased from primalrights website for about $60. She’s got a few dings in her from shipping but works absolutely flawless.

$550 OBO

Local pickup available in Alexandria, NJ.

Medical advice, well billing at least

I generally don’t see doctors, seldom at least. But I was having chest pain last month so my wife talked me into care now, they ran an ekg which was fine but recommended I go to the hospital immediately. I did so and they took my blood pressure, oxygen level, 3 blood tests, and an ekg. I wasn’t admitted and spent 3 hours in the exam room. Good news is with the exception of slightly high blood pressure everything was normal. I made an appointment with a cardiologist in case, did the stress test and he said I’m fine. My issue is the care now ekg was $185, the cardiologist with all the tests and EKG’s was about $500, and the hospital was $6000 and after insurance I’m due for $4000. The blood tests they ran cost $200 at quest, the ekg going rate seems to be $185, so I’m being asked to pay basically $5600 for using a exam room for 3 hours and have my blood pressure taken. I’m not cheap and normally don’t bitch about bills but this just seems excessive compared to the same test any where else. Is this something I can or should try to dispute or just shut the hell up and write the check?

SOLD S&B 3-27 HP H37 RAL8000 USSOCOM w/ matching RAL8K Spuhr SP-4002

Blah, blah, “RARE!”, blah, blah, blah…

Everyone thinks their stuff is “rare,” even if the rest of the world is tripping over them to get to their Big Mac.

This was THE scope that got to the finish line in the USSOCOM scope trials for their ELR selection, but lost to some douchy scope of obviously inferior quality (because I don’t own it… or maybe I do 🤔).

Schmidt Bender PMII 3-27x56 L/P LT H37 FFP .1 MRAD CW RAL8000 Riflescope 669-945-372-B8-B4 with matching legit RAL8000 Spuhr SP-4002 mount.

If you’re a RAL Whore or HK Fag, this is the scope for you!

The Google tells me these basically don’t exist in the wild at prices a typically sane person would pay, since you could easily get a new TT or ZCO for the same or less. But… owning those scopes that any mortal can buy just makes you another flatulent nobody who leads a pointless existence. In short, if you’re an NF, TT or ZCO owner, you should just put a plastic bag over your head and asphyxiate yourself to death — ‘cuz yer a loozer and your wife and kids are ashamed to call you Father.

Anywho… I genuinely don’t know what this is worth. Some guys say $6K (I wish), some say $4K, and some say I’m gay (it was ONE time, and I was drunk in a bad part of town!). Pretty sure I have the original boxes for both scope and mount, but not 100% sure. They’re tucked away in a tote in one of my Conexes.

I’ll say $4,500 OBO. Make your offers. PM me with cash or trade offers for your Poverty Pony and half-eaten bags of Skittles.

So.....tornado and stuff

There was a tornado here yesterday about 1/4 mile north of my humble abode.
It was kinda breezy a bit, it's Kansas so we don't make too much ado about a little wind here and there.
Then there was the baseball size hail, that I can do without.
Fucked my truck over pretty good just like the old monkey with a ballpeen hammer dealio....luckily no broken windows on it.
My next door neighbor has this newer Jeep (pronounced hispanic "Heap") the one with the de-smell engine.....it is absolutely destroyed, huge dents and a broken out rear window.....and the tree that's now resting on it.....haven't heard a chainsaw yet.
Power was out for about 8-10 hours or so, was starting to worry about the fridge and freezer stuff.....but it seems OK for now.

Weather can sure suck some serious ass out of a dead and bloated donkey sometimes.

looking for new hunting rifle for large western game

Have an elk hunt coming this year and I want to just run a factory rifle.
I first wanted to just get a TIKKA in 300WSM and call it good since I've had several the past
10 years and I already know it is more than sufficient to the job.
However, I've been wanting a nice wood stock rifle for a while and was considering one of the newer Win Mod 70's.
I can find them in 270 and 300wsm.
can anybody attest to the late model Winchesters consistency and accuracy? Ill likely hand load it since it won't be a rifle I shoot
year-round and I already have all the primers and powder I need. I'm not really interested in anything else, and the whole idea
started as keeping the cost below $1,500.

New GPO Super Compact MPVO 4-16 x 44i FFP mil shipping late May

Dropped at shot without much fanfare, but I think this scope is worthy of discussion.

Built a new DMRish rifle that is waiting for this. I have one ordered via Cameraland & according to GPO these will be shipping in the next 2 weeks.

Checks a lot of boxes for me. Pretty high hopes for this one.

  • It's short, really short
  • Hope to add a clip on & rail space shouldn't be a problem
  • German Glass
  • Japan assembled
  • FFP mil
  • 10 mil per rotation locking turrets
  • Zero stop
  • Parallax down to 10y
  • Illuminated reticle
  • 20oz
Maybe I'm odd, but still like the Valk & built a new one. 18" 7T Special run Proof.
It will be topped by the Axis of Evil. GPO (German + Jap) & Audere mount (Italy).

The challenge for this scope will be finding mounts short enough. I know the Audere will fit so I have a 20moa on the way.
Max mount length for the scope is 4.3"
1716167724277.png

I really wanted to run the Tier 1, but it'd be a $350 gamble as to whether or not it fit. Available max supposedly is 4.3" & the Tier 1 is 4.291"
Will report actual once I have the scope in hand.

1716166740339.jpeg

1716165252733.png

Reticle is pretty basic mil based.
1716165353955.png

1716165438687.png

1716165655488.png

What I was told by GPO is that this scopes Glass is German & all parts are sourced from the German HQ, but it's likley not every component is German.
Parts are QC'd in Germany and sent to Japan for assembly. The scopes are then returned to Germany for final QC & then shipped from there.

This is a reasonably priced scope that I'll gladly pay + $100 over an Athlon for. I also like TMR reticles so the basic mil hash is fine with me. Sometimes simpler is better. I've currently got XTR 3 (Both US and Philippines), Leupold MK5 HD, & Steiner T6Xi all 18x on AR's to compare. All are more expensive scopes with + 2 on the top end. I don't expect this to be their equal, but if it's functional I think it'll be a great option. I don't typically dial to min power anyway & if I need close I'll through a dot or irons on it to supliment the bottom end.
