Situation. Recently got some money from workman's comp for my thumb. Decided to buy a used razor GEN2 4.5-27X57 7C mil from the px here.

Thinking of putting it on my Ar15 in the meantime cause I haven't bought my Tikka yet. Been trying to figure out if they are ever going to import a lefty stainless CTR. I bought a 20moa riser rail to get the height.

All of my coworkers are saying I'm doing everything bass ackwards because I bought the scope before the gun.

I've had coworkers say it isnt good to mount a scope in rings to a pic rail to a gun because it isn't secure enough for hunting or some such like that. Better to mount directly to the gun than a pic rail.

Just had another coworker say it's better to not mount it up to my AR because I will have to adjust later and have to lap the rings, and have problems with marring the tube. Says it is best to just mount the rings just once and never adjust. When I got the scope it came with the Vortex precision matched rings. Of course I'm going to have to adjust later.

These coworkers also think a razor is way too much scope for anything.

Frustrated by the idiots around me. So am I surrounded by fudds?

Lose the front grip. It screams Fudd.
I don't use it much anymore. Older picture. It also started life with a leupold mark ar 3-9 mismatched scope from back before I knew better. I have also since changed the compensator to a thunderbeast flash hider. One day I will get an ultra 7 or 9 and wanted to be ready.

Fudd in the firearms community is used much the same way as liberals use the word racist. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they just want to disagree for the sake of argument.

    you be you man.
unless you try to put that razor gen2 on top of say...the Henry Long Ranger. Then you're definitely a fudd. lol

If there was room I might try to put it on my Beretta u22 neos. Just for laughs though. It might be entertaining to see what they think of that. Especially after I get my 22 takedown approved. Then they would definitely flip out.

A Fudd would never spend good light beer money on a Razor Gen2 when that center point 3x9 is right there on the shelf of Wally Mart for $39.95

And that’s exactly how you get ATF attention.

I would select a quality one piece mount for the AR that won’t leave ring marks. My choice would be a Larue, but others here seem to dislike Mark for some reason. I’ve never had ring marks on a scope from my LT-158.

    - Stop buying cheap gun accessories. Your weird length bipod, plastic iron sights, knock off forend grip, tacticool magpul stock, anti walk pins and ass backwards sling setup are giving me an anuerysm.

    - Are you wanting a DMR/SPR or a carbine with a red dot? Fuck. Make up your mind; fun tip - neither of those need a fucking 27x optic

    - Stop listening to fucking co workers. I have helo based HVT convoy interdiction experience yet I still had co workers tell me shit like their DPMS Sportical is just as good as whatever, show me pictures of their Condor plate carrier with mag pouches for multiple calibers on it 'just in case' and not take into consideration that them being a total fucking fatass wasn't some sort of liability. Just don't do it; and don't go fucking shooting with them either. Ever.

Pretty much why I can't stand to shoot ARs, its more about having Gucci shit and burning a lot of ammo rather than focusing on marksmanship and accuracy.

The last review I read said the Centerpoint was at least 90% if not 95% as good as the Razor Gen II. IN ADDITION... when used as a spotter.. it is ALMOST as good as the Swaro 15x SLC. Just like everything else...

He is 100% correct. It LOOKS similar and you look through it with one eye just like a swaro!

That’s about where the similarities ends.

Since I have 2 ARs, both with optics you won't see me crapping on your rifle, and when a good deal comes up on an optic you want buy it, hell now you have an excuse to buy another gun. The only thing I will side with the fudds on is if you're going to hunt with the rifle consider rings over a cantilever mount. My AR got knocked off the bench last weekend and landed on the objective bell. Next shots were 22" low at 100. I checked the mount with a straight edge and sure enough the front was bent down, not by much, but is was bent. Now maybe I'm lucky and the mount absorbed enough of the impact that all the scope got was a few scratches, who knows. My point is a hunting rifle sometimes gets dropped or banged around so the stiffer the mounting the less the chance you'll miss because your zero is off because you banged the scope.

@Birddog6424, PLEASE IN THE NAME OF EVERYTHING SACRED. Can we get a XTR III 10x fixed power with a tree reticle for ~$600???

That would be pretty cool!! I bet they would do well with that.

It this point I have no idea how far reaching the plans are for the XTR3. I do know that a new lower price point tactical line is in the works. Something more modern to replace the MTAC line. But there are some aspects, such as turret quality and tracking reliability that they aren't skimping on.

As much as we on the Hide love to think we are the center of the universe, the reality is that $300 to $500 scopes sell like hotcakes compared to $1k and up. So I think Burris is going to bolster that line up next to run alongside their hunting scope sales.

Considering I built it back in 2011 back when I was more poor in terms of knowledge and money. Bipod is a Harris (didn't know better. Going to be upgraded to an atlas that will live on the tikka. Harris is on my 22). Sights are magpul mbus's (2 years before the mbus pro's). Grip is off, sling is moved. I like the ubr stock it works. The pins work.

I know it doesn't need the scope. It fits temporarily on either my AR or my 22 bolt gun. Ar makes more sense than my 22. Besides I don't know how accurate the gun is. Yes I know my technique probably sucks. Yes I partially chose parts because of looks (rifle length gas, spr profile barrel, and ubr stock). It is mostly a range gun. But it is mine.

I also dont own a plate carrier or anything like that.

Sounds like I need to take a new updated pic of my AR.

I've had occasions were people tell me at the range:
"I don't need that scope/gun I can still hit targets out there".
" you spend that amount of money on that?"
"What are you shooting there? My rifle recoils less than that."
my favorite is: "Shooting 100yard groups is just an act of mental masturbation".

The people dissing a VFG on an AR have no idea why they are useful and how they are useful. And since they don't know, they say stupid things about them. Because...they are FUDDs.

He was talking about a pic rail on a bolt gun.

    Speak for yourself, pal.

Pretty much why I can't stand to shoot ARs, its more about having Gucci shit and burning a lot of ammo rather than focusing on marksmanship and accuracy.

When you quote the whole post, you will see I am speaking for myself....... Didn't say I don't know how or can't shoot an AR, just said I can't stand to do it with others. OK, I left the "with others" part out but you get my point. I don't begrudge others for shooting their ARs, but when I go to a range and it feels like I'm not wearing the uniform or wasting enough ammo it turns me off. Maybe this comes from years of pinching pennies and reloading ammo. Knowing every round has 10-15 minutes invested makes me want to slow down....

When it comes to precision rifle, properly educated and/or informed people are the minority. And by a lot.

Just doesn’t seem that way because we are such a small niche of the firearms community, we congregate on the same sites and social media pages.

I was discussing buying a Vortex Razor with a coworker.
He said hes never heard of Vortex so wouldn't steer clear, recommended a Leupold Mark 4 instead.

I didn't bother too inform him the Mark 4 is no longer for sale on the civilian market.

Except on MidwayUSA OpticsPlanet eurooptics.com. But yes production has ended but still widely available, Your co-worker made a solid recommendation, you might consider it.

If you want a gun for professional type work, look at what pros use. (Cops aren’t pros, no offense)

If you are just having fun, feel free to violate all rules and suggestions, but most times the pro gear will still work the best for you.

But no one argues with consistent bullets on target.

Lol......suggesting a mk4 over a vortex razor is anything but a solid recommendation.

Mk4 were good at one point. Relatively speaking, not even close to the best modern option.

ROTFLMAO.....sigh. Thanks bud, I needed a good laugh this morning. Smh...

Is “Leupold Mk IV” the latest fudds mating call?

Just deal with it and forget about them.

Thread should have been closed after this. All that needed to be said, or could ever be said, has been gracefully uttered.

Fuckin eh man. Fuckin coworkers are the worst...especially the ones who think they are high speed because of a job title but are nothing but a fucking liability because they lied on a resume and the company needs bodies to fill holes in a contract.

Don’t worry he will be trolling elsewhere soon.

Or posting up pictures of targets where he hits and misses 2” dots at distances you could spit on them.
