Hunting & Fishing Hunting with a Muzzle Brake

Helpful replies, thanks. I like my 20" rifle but with a can it is just a bit awkward, so was thinking about a brake. I guess my worry is the dog. He is the Sika radar and while that is his nose, I don't want to deafen him.

Hunting & Fishing Hunting with a Muzzle Brake

I tried asking this on a UK forum but just got a lot of dumb ass answers. I have one on my AI so I have the range experiences but... Does anybody use a brake for hunting? Are there any non obvious benefits/issues?

Rifle Competition Events What would you change or do differently with current competitions/organizations?

Exactly Not had a chance to shoot PRS over here but done plenty clays up to European and World Champs. Fitasc is kinda similar idea to PRS but with flying targets. Classifications give everybody a competition. They also let you work out which targets are for the big boys and are a "bonus" for...

    Imperfect shot compromise ?

Exactly. So I am deer culling. Take the first shot at say 350. The thing legs its up the hill. I am not going to take a mover but it pauses at say 450 but its on a different line. If I don't take the shot I/we could literally be chasing it for miles over the hill. You just have to shuck round...

    Imperfect shot compromise ?

So I watched a video years ago where Frank was talking about having to accept indexing and trading (in my language compromising, I think) between the fundamentals when the position is not perfect. There is always lots of chat on here about running the fundamentals perfectly and the results when...

Statistician Reconsiders Gun Control After Reviewing the Data

"Regarding the much-touted gun control laws of Britain and Australia, Libresco found that "neither nation experienced drops in mass shootings or other gun-related crime that could be attributed to their buybacks and bans." Well I am all in favour of looking at the data, and I can't speak about...

    New Tikka T3X CTR...non 1" moa

Send it back . It is a mile off where it should be. Faffing about with ammo brands is not going to take that error out. It is worth trying out a scope you trust but after that its warranty time. I know lots of guys over here with Tikka's and that is not normal out of the box behaviour. Most of...

    Recommendations for rifle

Just buy an Accuracy International straight off. The AT is a bargain. AX is mutts nuts. You will end up with one anyway so you may as well avoid all the other crap on the way...

    rangefinding binos...who's using them

Leica 10x42 geovid HD-B Glass is great. I had previous generation 8x56 for about 10 years and these are much brighter. Laser is very good. Fast. Works in less than ideal conditions. Works when other handhelds don't, demonstrated up the hill after red hinds last October - stalker would have...

    Rifle Scopes Mil or moa

Well it's not a dumb question 'cos it gets asked often enough. However that is the clue. It has been done to death. Repeatedly. Therefore you can Google this question for Lowlight's answers. Please do. Read the answers (there are many from the straightforward to being run over by a truck). Save...

    Solohntr rifle cover

Anybody using one of these ? Any good ? I use a moderator approx 1 3/4 inch diameter, will that fit? Planning on using it up the hill stalking red in the usual wind and rain. Seems like it could be a lightweight fast system allowing me better control of the rifle with my TAB biathlon sling.

    .308 vs 6.5cm recoil

Given the 6.5 shoots bullet weights a range below the 308 at roughly comparable speeds then on balance the 6.5 will have less recoil across the range. If you want to shoot to 'long' range then the 6.5 is a different class. On the other hand if you want to shoot at a particular bullet weight...

    308 & 3006

Key word is WAS. In 1950 it was about a common nato round and more rounds per pound on your back ?? So there was a 308 is 'better than' a 30-06 mentality which sort of persists. Ballistically they are close in some bullet weights and some loadings, however in heavier loads you would expect...
