Re: How much to start reloading
I think it will surprise you just how much it will cost to get started. But once you get the basics in house it gets easier and cheaper every time you sit down at the bench.
I would recommend keeping an eye out for a digital powder dribbler. That thing is...
Re: advice on powder.
I've been reloading for about 10 years. I am very familiar with the manuals and how to read them. What I was asking for was real world experience with magnum charges on smaller bores like the .284.
I've traditionally used IMR powders and was wondering what others...
Re: Powder measuring?
Lymann 1200. 4 years old and still handing out 76 grains at a time ! been very happy with it and I can honestly say that it doesn't get baby'd.
Re: Looking for 7mm-08 Hunting Bullets
I have a .308 kimber that I hunt with and have had very good success with the 150gr Speer Grand Slam. It is a flat bottom, but I just like you stated would not be shooting over approx 300 yds. the BC on the GS doesn't cost you too bad out to that...
I am about to start load work on a new 7STW and have in the past used IMR7828 for my reloads. 160 to 180 gr will sit top side with a 27" barrel.
Does anyone have any advice on another powder to try ?
thanks for your time.
Re: Hand Loading for Long Range 5: inspect & tips
there is allot of information here in these notes. I have read them twice now. This information is filling in many of the gaps I have had in handloading.
I will no doubt be revisiting these in the future.
thanks again.
Re: 284 8 twist
I am very interested in this topic as well. I am finalizing the build for a 7STW and not sure if I should stick with 9" like I currently have or drop to the 8". I will not shoot anything under 160gr and would love to only shoot 180 VLD's.
Any advice is appreciated here as well.
I have a sporter #5 contour (.700 barrel dia.) that needs a brake.
Which is the most effective ? I thought I wanted an FTE but see that min. barrel is .800 and that leaves me in the rain.
any advice is appreciated.
thanks.
