I’m thinking of doing a switch barrel 223 /300 bo on a howa, but torn between the standard S/A and the mini.
Has anyone else been down this road ?

I know they stopped making the SA in 223 and switched over to the mini but that being said the mini doesn’t seem to have the aftermarket support the SA does. Now I don’t know if that’s a big deal or not for you but personally I’d like to be able to get magazines from more then two companies and chassis/stock options.

Don’t know if you acted on this yet, but a consideration is mag length. If you wish to shoot heavies, the Mini’s mag length is pretty limiting.
SA would accommodate long for cartridge bullets with the current choices & open a world of options down the road, if you every decided to add to the barrel collection.

If you can get a short action (didn't think they still made them for 223) that's what I would do.
Chassis options much more limited with a mini action

Edit: just saw this is an old post
