X - Vectronix Shooting Solutions

What is the latest on Calypso Vector X pairing.
I played with the Calypso pairing again last week. The option now exists in the Calypso software but I was not able to get the vector X and the Calypso AB to actually pair. It looks like something the AB guys are actively working on at the moment as every week or so there are new updates on the AB ecosystem pairing in general and the Calypso specifically. I expect to see some headway soon. For instance, I did manage to get the Calypso to work with AB quantum last week for the first time. I still found the combination to be less than smooth to use though and, of course, due to 2 device at a time only communication, could not use the smartphone and both devices all paired together at the same time. Still, I did manage to create a target card in AB quantum, then disconnect the rangefinder and connect the calypso and have the target card wind values update in real time.

What Optic Are YOU Running?

The big things are that whatever you use needs to focus close (25 yds or better) and have a ton of elevation (35 mils is great if you can get it). You might not think you will, but you will use all the elevation. .22lr drops super fast because it is subsonic and not aerodynamic but in most cases is also very predictable in that drop as it never flirts with the messy trans-sonic speeds. As such, you can push it to angular drop numbers you would never use on most centerfire cartridges.

For a lot of .22s it is also nice to have a scope on the lighter side as the rifle may be smaller and lighter than most your centerfire guns and if you put a 45oz scope on it the balance becomes pretty wobbly and top heavy feeling, not to mention it looks like a peewee football player with a full size NFL helmet. Not a concern for guys with a Vudoo and an MTU contour barrel but there are a lot of accurate smaller action rifles it certainly is for such has my Anschutz 1710.

Anyhow, my Vudoo has a ZCO 420 on it. It is the rifle I shoot the most and since I enjoy using my best glass and that glass also focuses close and has huge elevation I put it on the Vudoo so I get to enjoy it more often. My Anschutz has an Athlon Midas TAC 5-25x on it for the 25yd focus and 35mils of elevation. The Athlon is also 30oz which is on the lighter side for a tactical scope. Both scopes have been excellent choices on their respective rifles. How about that for a wide price disparity lol.

Thermal clip on flip to the side options.

The SkeetIR does not support very much mag at all and isnt a very good clip on. RH25 or Voodoo S are your options. Voodoo S is superior but drastically more expensive.

The Wilcox mount works well. I am not sure how its zero retention is for non-collinlmated thermals though. My stuff is all collimated.
I used mine (RH25) in both the FTS and ADM mount. I was able to make hits at 500yd using both. I will say, I typically used the FTS on my 11.5 556 and my 13.5 MWS 308. Mainly due to both of those guns having a white light and set up for pigs, deer, and yotes within 300yd. The ADM I keep on a 14.5 as a loaner setup.

First suppressor? DD wolf hunter opinions

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread. I am looking for a suppressor for a 6gt and 223. I will get a separate suppressor later down the road for 30cal stuff. I was looking for something fairly compact and light weight as both of these are hunting rifles, those of you that have tried the wolf hunter what do you think?

You can run .223 endcaps or .30 endcaps, plus soon a pretty effective break.

If you looking for versatility look no further

Suppressors .30 or .22: Best First Suppressor?

I'll be the contrarian. For my FIRST suppressor, I'd buy the SilencerCo 46M with plenty of 5/8x24 mounting adapters. It will suppress, though not perfectly, for everything smaller in caliber. As I accumulated more funds I'd buy more caliber specific suppressors. I didn't do it this way and have purchased so many cans that I need a go bag to carry them all. My most used suppressor is a .22LR Sparrow. All day fun that one is. The 46M I've used on my lever guns. It's a hoot with a .375 Winchester.

New Schmidt Bender?

With the adjusted expiration date of 6-25-26 it certainly looks like we'll be starting to see wide AFOV scopes from more manufacturers starting to hit the US market at that time.

We know S&B already has full >22 degree AFOV versions of the 3-18 and 6-36 for non-US markets, but I wonder if there are other manufacturers currently selling AFOV limited versions of their current scopes that just need a simple revision or field stop removal to have >22 degrees AFOV (ZCO and Tangent 7-35 possibly?)

Also, I wonder how many upcoming/new wide AFOV scopes are already designed and waiting for manufacture and will be announced as we get closer to the patent expiration.

I just need to show some self control and not buy any new scopes until then...

.308 Winchester

First rifle I’ve done load development for. B14 HMR, wearing a 5-25 Strike Eagle and Omega 300. I also did not know I had the ability to put groups out as small as some of these have been. Started with 168 ELDM and they suck in this gun. Bought 169 SMK, 175 SMK, and 168 TMK. Primary powder choices Varget and CFE223.

Think my final load is going to land around 44.8 gr Varget on the 169.

Think I’ll load up the last of the box of 175’s on 46.0 gr CFE223.

But can anyone explain this with the 168 TMK? It’s not the first strings I’ve had where some groups are great, and others are great with a single flier like these. Rifle loves the Fed T308T tipped load.

As someone who's use all these components and looking at where the center of the Mean Radius is,
I'd suggest rest your 169 SMK's with 44.7 to 45.0 grs of Varget. The loads for those two targets look like they have the most potential. Also, the velocity you're getting for those two loads is right at where my particular gun (with 26" barrel) performs very well. . . though with a different powder (AR-Comp).
