All your ELR ammo in one spot!

Decided to find a way to transport my ammo in one container and we opted to screw around with a 3-D printer… got one of the other hide members to help me with the cad aspect of it…

I’ve seen a few people playing around with Milwaukee packs… and then this thought occurred to me.

I’m printing up the 6 Creedmoor now; surprisingly, it works flawlessly…

Gunsmithing What exactly am I trying to clean from my barrel?

Lots of y’all have shared so much great info in my rookie barrel cleaning thread and it got me thinking.

I know the obvious answer is we clean to remove carbon from burning powder and then, if we feel that there is copper buildup, we remove that.

There’s so much debate over how clean is enough, but what is happening in a dirty barrel that affects accuracy?

There’s so much heat and friction happening in a microsecond, and if the jacket is engaging the rifling, it’s exiting the barrel at the same speed and spin as it always does.

Right? What is happening to a bullet in a barrel that’s had 350 rounds through it versus a perfectly clean barrel?

Does some fouling help? Is a barrel that has a single round through it “dirty” and therefore (theoretically) less accurate than a perfectly clean barrel?

Firearms LPR .338 Reaper w/dies and brass

Here we go…I love this gun but just don't shoot it enough. Lane Precision .338 Reaper (Lapua Improved), Bat action, Proof 28" barrel, Terminator Brake, Manners stock. I have brass and dies that will come with the gun. It shoots well into 1/2" with 300 grain Berger OTM's and Retumbo. I was getting 2920 fps out of it and didn't feel like I was pushing it at all. $3500 shipped to your FFL. Manners doesn't make this color stock anymore, so jump on it quick. Scope not included.

Also included are the dies, 49 .338 Lapua branded cases that need to be formed, and 51 already formed cases. The trigger is a TriggerTech Diamond trigger. Also included a pic of the bottom metal for those interested.

I have three one of these chassis left, they are all brand new/never used. One is black and one is flat dark earth.

I own a media company, a company (NOT MDT, a rifle builder) ordered these for a photoshoot we were supposed to do. They went bankrupt and paid me in chassis/parts.

Rifle Scopes Interesting observation

My scope and levels never seemed to agree on the Vudoo. Never had trouble hitting targets but it or the level or the rifle was always off.

So, yesterday, I spent a good bit of time with a quality carpentry level getting the chassis, my scope and the scope level all speaking the same language. (my small shop deck was perfectly level, imagine that).

Well I got everything squared away and packaged up for the trip today. When I got the rifle out, lined up on the target, the reticle had a strong left (top) right (bottom) cant. Apparently I can’t get cant right. So, I put the top of the reticle on the top of the berm, and guess what, the after market scope level had shifted way high on the two hour drive from our home to Howard Prince gun range. However, the built in level on the chassis was now reading quite level. And by all appearances,, the scope reticle is now level.

Here is the interesting observation. Despite not changing anything but the cant, the point of aim moved to the right 1.5 mils to the right at 50 yards. It came right back, with the windage adjustment but that almost seemed rather extreme considering how little I actually moved the scope. The bottom rings were not moved and the top rings were only loosen. Interesting.

Not a problem but it sure brings home the point, even the slightest adjustment to the scope mounting, one be especailly sure to get to the sight-in range to check things out.
