Rifle Scopes Razor gen 3 upgrade

I've been really thinking about upgrading my razor gen 3 but not sure if it's worth the squeeze. Richard from CST pointed me in the direction of the zco527. This is a lot of money to me to drop on a scope so I figured I would ask the hide there opinions and people who have both or have the higher end of scopes. I've been around ATACR and looked threw a zco 5 years ago for like 1 min so I have no experience.

I shoot elr style matches that's it. I like the razor gen 3 but this is the only rifle I own and so I figured I mine as well have the best I can can since I'm limited to 1.

LMT .308 on the cheap? Did I screw up?

I walked away from one hell of a deal yesterday. LGS had an LMT .308 with a Vortex Viper Scope stabbed in a Warne Mount for sale for $1995.00. I am a regular customer so they offered it to me for $1800.00 plus tax OTD. Salesman told me I could make a counter offer to the boss. I could even use a credit card with no additional fee. I did some quick math in my pea brained noggin. Let's see, rifle about $2800.00, plus mount $125.00, and around $1100.00 for the scope. That's $4025.00 on the low side retail price new. Hmmm...so what's the deal with the rifle?

Guy bought the rifle then got into financial trouble. Traded the rifle to a guy for some work performed. Guy that did the work traded it in on a bow and some arrows. Less than 100 rounds through the rifle. Looks good as new. More pondering and thinking. OK I know the manager...I can probably get the rifle for $1700.00 no problem. Heck of it is, I don't really want the damn thing and I am unsure how hard it would be to flip for profit. Did I screw up?

LPVO with FSB

I currently run a 2-10 LPVO on one of my ARs, sits on a 16 inch barrel, carbine length gas block, with a front sight post. Does not cause me any issues for what I use it for. At very low magnification, of course I pick up the FSP, but at my range I don't usually go below 4x on that gun.

Thinking of moving that upper/barrel over to a rifle that would use a red dot, and putting a mid length onto the one used with the LPVO, which would also have a front sight post.

My question is: would the difference in length of where the FSP is located on the midlength cause more or less disturbance using an LPVO? Carbine it being a bit closer to the optic, midlength being a little further away. Would the midlength cause the post to get picked up easier or other way around?

Movie Theater Sergio Leone: The Italian who Invented America

Came out a couple of years ago... but is available for streaming and on HBO...

This documentary is about legendary director Sergio Leone... the king of the Spaghetti Western... and the man who made Clint Eastwood "Clint."

Interviews a number of directors (Most of whom are Hollywood lefties) but is really fascinating how much Leone influenced some of the great movie directors of the '70's through today...

The clips, the interviews, the inter-relationships between films and myth and character, etc... if you are a film buff, you will really enjoy this!

One really funny moment is describing the bridge explosion in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. They spent weeks building the bridge and an Italian Army demo team rigged it. And everyone got into place and they blew the bridge... And "Tuco" said "Ha, I bet they didn't have film in the camera!"

A moment later, Leone came out of is trailer utterly screaming and going "Who blew the bridge!" Apparently, noone had called action and no cameras were rolling! The Italian Army felt so bad for screwing up the detonation, they rebuilt the bridge and then did the explosion again.

Anyway, a totally worthy watch!

M1917 vs M1903

I've always wondered why the '03 seems to have been so much more popular for use as a match rifle than the 1917(during their heyday: 1910's - 1950's or thereabouts when the Garands and M14's completely took over High Power - Service Rifle, and Model 70's/40X's/etc completely took over High Power - Match Rifle, 3x600, prone, long range prone, etc)?

Is the '03 simply a more inherently accurate rifle(IMO a valid question, because the '03 receiver was WIDELY used in the Mann Device for ammo accuracy testing and whatnot for like 100+ years)? Or was it a case of the '03 simply having sights more conducive to competition/precision in general/etc? Or...??

There were FAR more 1917's produced vs '03s during WW1(along with commercial variants eg: Remington Model 30 & Winchester Model 51 Imperial). And they consequently played a far bigger role in the US war effort than the '03 did, in the 1st world war...esp. if you count the P14.

I ain't aware of any commercial '03 variants(aside from the M1922 and the DCM Sporter if ya wanna count them?)?

TL;dr/summary: why no 1917 National Match Rifles? Why so few custom 1917 target rifles?
(Yes I'm aware of Comfort's winning the '35 Wimbledon Cup w/ a custom .300 H&H 1917 {{and @sirhrmechanic 's amazingly beautiful clone/recreation of said rifle, or was that you, @buffalowinter ?}}.

Regardless - my point/question still stands; the '03 dominated the Nat'l Matches up until the Garand NM and Don McCoy's match conditioned Garands were born.. and the 1917 was perceptively very rarely used in comparison. Why is that?

Thanks in advance gentlemen.
God bless & best regards!
