New build for Night Vision

I needed a reason to justify rebuilding my 300 black out. The true reason is I fell in love with the rifle I built my girl using burnt bronze on the receivers, Geissele DDC parts, and FDE furniture.
My 300 black out was a cheapish Aero build. I’m now using a Vltor MUR upper without FA, Geissele DDC super charging handle, Geissele MK4 DDC 9.3” rail, and Wilson Combat 11.3” barrel. The lower is an Aero M4E1, Rise 535 trigger which I may replace with a Geissele SDE since I have them in all my other rifles, Magpul K2+ grip, Law folder, carbine buffer, Magpul SLS stock. Other than that I was just thinking of adding a Steiner Dbal. I’m just now worrying.. will the Steiner objective lens sit high enough to clear the Dbal??
EDIT: MRO isn’t popular with night vision and the bottom half of the sight picture from the scope would be blocked by the Dbal D2. I’d need a 1.93” scope mount which would place a top-mounted RMR WAY above the bore causing huge issues at anything other than zero distance or close. I’ll be using an Eotech EXPS3 on a Unity Riser and eventually a G33 in a Unity flip to center mount.
I’ll be using a SilencerCo Velos LBP 762.
I plan to stick with Hornady 110 grain VMAX over 19.8 of H110 and work up a sub load for 220 grain SMKs using N120.
Does this sound like a decent NV set up? I know 556 especially out of short barrels has a lot of blast so 300 black out seems perfect especially with subs.

Thank you for all the help!

11.5" BCM vs 12.5" Geissele Huxwrx Flow 556 Builds

I just bought a Huxwrx Flow 556... wanted to test these eForm4's shipping a can right to your door. Sure enough, its legit, approved in 4 days...

So i decided to build and submit a new eform 1 sbr lower for this build. And build a 11.5" BCM upper and a 12.5" Geissele upper.

Here the build specs

I just put some Hornady 55 FMJ-BT WC846 bulk plinking ammo through the Geissele upper today on one of my other SBR lowers to zero at 50yd and put some rounds down in.

Functioned flawlessly..... just waiting for the Huxwrx to show up in the mail then I'll start doing some testing.

I also have a 11.5" piston upper i built with a Superlative Arms piston kit that is very smooth ill be testing the Huxwrx on and comparing to these 2 uppers.

Introduction

Hello. I’m a new member on the forum. A little bit of background on myself, I enlisted in the Army National Guard and served from 1998 to 2002. I’ve been a police officer with a large municipal department in Southern California since 2002. I’m currently a SWAT officer for that department, and recently completed a 40 hour CA POST certified sniper school.

I have been issued and shot rifles for over 2 decades professionally, but precision rifle shooting is new to me, as well as sniper field craft. I am here to learn from and contribute to the forum and it’s members.

PKM-AR 5.56 with Beta-C mag, Suppressed, and Super Safety trigger.

I built this PKM using surplus PKM parts and the cheapest AR I could find. I bought an Anderson Arms AR-15 for $$299 to use for parts. This 5.56 PKM uses an AR operating system salvaged from the Anderson Arms AR-15. It is shown with an old police surplus Beta-C mag and suppressor. The suppressor is direct thread and held in place by a retracting pin like the AK-47 brake.

IT’S OFFICIAL: NPR and PBS Have Been Permanently Defunded!

Today, the first round of DOGE cuts was passed by Congress, making $9 billion in DOGE cuts permanent!

USAID loses $8 billion.

And NPR and PBS lose $1 billion.

JD Vance cast the tie-breaking vote:

Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

Hi guys!

I'm looking at making a suppressed, subsonic only 300 Blackout. I want it to be reasonably quiet (if someone else is shooting, my shots are invisible) or whisper quiet while balancing good barrel length and can length. I don't see this gun being used past 50 yards, 75 is stretching it for what the gun's intended purpose is.

I was thinking a 5.5 inch barrel with a Surefire SOCOM300 SPS or something similar, full barrel length with can going to 14.5 inches max, aiming for 12 or so.

Has anyone got specifically decibel counts from down range as opposed to shooter's position with different lengths of barrel or cans? Any issues with dwell time, or is that a myth? I don't mind issues with sound at my position so long as down range is quieter.

Thanks for the help!

Muzzle brake or suppressor for 300 WM?

Hi, new here!

I was looking at a 20 inch Savage Arms 110 Trail Hunter Lite in 300 WM, and for general use, was wondering if I should put a brake or a can on it.

This gun is meant to be a mobile sniper-ish role when LARPing with friends. As realistic as I can make it for training and fun.

I'm a relatively small dude, about 130 pounds, so I was considering the brake so I could shoot it more than five times without calling it quits.

But I'm being told that a suppressor would also reduce recoil, just not as much, in addition to signature reduction.

I'm leaning towards a suppressor, but am unsure how much recoil it'll hit me with compared to a brake; I shot the same rifle with a brake a while back and it felt lighter than your average 12 gauge. I have not had the chance to shoot a suppressed bolt action in a higher caliber than 6.5 Creedmoor, and don't want to blow cash on a can just to figure out it sucks and I wasted my cash.

If I went with a brake, how many baffles are recommended? If I went suppressor, what suppressor is recommended and why? I was looking at the Surefire RC2 since the 300 SPS has some bulging issue with WM, but I want y'alls thoughts. Thanks!

Accuracy of CZ 457 Varmint 22LR non MTR

I recently purchased the 457 Varmint in22lr non MTR. Have only shot it in back of my house at 25yds. Haven't been to the range yet for 50yd shooting. Just from the research online, It seems a lot of folks are not getting very good accuracy. Some say no matter what ammo they have tried. The last CZ I owned was a 452 Varmint in 22LR years back. The 452 was very accurate even with the Federal 510 rounds. I'm just trying to see if a lot of folks on this forum have had poor accuracy out of this particular model. Also, if anyone found solutions to accuracy problems other than barrel replacement. I plan to install a yo dave trigger. Thanks for all input! (y) I plan to experiment with action screw torque.

1500 for the Hesco U210 set
Large

1700 for the Velocity Systems D2134 set
Large

Both are high end multi curve super lightweight special threat plates.

***Apparently a couple geniuses have mixed up the difference between L210 plates (which are decent, but budget level, and stop less threats) with U210 plates which are high end plates that retail at near $2000. These are the latter.***
